Re: Surf fishing (spinning) rods for jerkbait halibut in Socal area?
Try looking at this https://thehookuptackle.com/products/special-deluxe-spinning-rod-for-great-fishing Lucky Craft makes some fine rods. Light and sensitive. Very underrated. For something cheaper, I also use Majorcraft Seabass rods. You could check their shore jigging models if you want to throw he...

Re: Glass or No for Shallow to mid Crankbaits
I'm a big fan of the Dobyns 705 CB Glass Fast. I use that rod for most of my shallow to mid cranks. I've always thrown cranks on mono as it's a bit softer and allows me to switch from a crank to a top water without any hassle. What I like about the Dobyns is it feels and acts like a graphite rod unt...

Thanks for the feed back! This was exactly what I needed to know. Just something I was playing around with in my head.

Which model of Terez?
Hi Bantam, I'm hoping you can steer me in the right direction. I'm looking for a saltwater spinning rod that I can fish in deep water, about 200 ft and a bit beyond. I like the specs on the Terez line but can't find many reviews for my application. Can you suggest something for me? I'd either fish j...

Re: The Highest Example – The Edge Epitome Rods from Gary Loomis
I asked about a list of different models and Brett Wood from Edge responded that I should call back in about 2 weeks to check if the list was available. This was on 8/8/22. Should be out soon....

Re: I found an oldie but goodie
If I remember correctly, the GCR was a light action salt water rod. Short handle and rated 6-10 lb, 1/8 - 3/8 oz. Light power, ex fast. Too bad it was only available in GL3. Would have loved to see what an IMX or GLX version could do. I mainly used it for flick shake worms and experimented with spy ...

Re: I found an oldie but goodie
You got me looking through my old rods and I found both a CBR 841 and a GCR 842. These were some of my first attempts at using BFS. I think I'll try these again on my next trip!

Re: Good Mono???
I've used McCoy Mean Green for years. Use it for salmon, steelhead, bass,....everything. Low memory and pretty tough. Years ago, I had a salmon get tangled in some tree branches on the Sac. Got it out and line was still smooth. Very underrated line.

Re: Ultralight rod storage in boat
I wouldn't risk it. The tips are just so delicate and fine. I have 2 (one is an Ares and the other is a graphite leader) on my boat and I keep them in their own cases at all times if they're not in use.

Re: GYB Kut Tail Worm
For sure! The smaller ones I still use for drop shot and the larger versions either weightless, or my favorite way to fish them, neko rigged. I've always got a pack or 2 in the boat at all times.

Re: 2021 steez ags rods
Hi Gary, Will the original Steez AGS rods still be available or are they discontinued? Daiwa still has them up on their web site. Thanks Darrin Hi Darrin - the black/blue Steez rods are going to be discontinued. Extremely similar to the racing design at first glance, I don't see anywhere that these...

Re: Rod choice for one rod fishing
I also like jack of all trade rods. Take a look at the XX Diablo Spec R. Has many, many uses. Handle is on the thin side, though. If they still make it, I would also recommend the Javelin. Love that rod! Loomis 843 or 844 also comes to mind. MBR actions are famous for being very versatile. For a bit...

Re: Spinning rod for bubba drop shot
Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't thought about St Croix in a while. It's about time I checked them out again. I actually have a GLX 783 (forgot about that one) that I should also try out. It's a bit shorter than I would like for my intended use, but I already have it. I didn't realize there was...

Re: Spinning rod for bubba drop shot
For drop shotting, I'd prefer a bit softer tip with fast action. I normally use straight 12lb fluoro.
Thanks.
Thanks.
