Another option is Phenix X12, which is what I use. I also use NFC Fast Glass APFG742. Harry

Re: shipping rods
Yes, Golden State Overnight. Since the rods are 8’, they could not go with UPS. The tube is very strong that I can’t hardly bend on my knees. The rods were packaged well, It is not the shipper’s fault. those were blanks from Phenix. They ship hundreds of rods per day so I think they know how to pack...

Re: High end frog rod: heavy-ish surface veg
I have used Phenix K2 736 for more than 5 yrs. yes, some of the K2 line are fragile and must handle with care. I have beat this rod pretty good and it’s still holding up. Super light weight and very powerful but it is a broomstick with very little tip. That is why I only use it for open water. Too h...

Aldebaran BFS XG Limited LH gear set
Dan, I am looking for new gears for this reel. The ratio is 8:1. This reel got rough over the last two years but I have ruled out bearings. Is there a domestic reel that shares the same gears?
Thanks, Harry
Thanks, Harry

Re: Correct Part# for Metanium MG7 roller bearing
Thanks all. Strangely I tried looking under the Core schematics and the roller bearing is left out, both in the diagram that came with the the reel and on line.

Correct Part# for Metanium MG7 roller bearing
What is the correct part number for the Metanium MG7 anti reverse roller bearing? is there a ARB version for this bearing? several of mine have developed bad rust and I would like to replace with the ARB version. Also what is the proper lubicant for this bearing? light oil or grease? Thank you, Harry

Re: K2 Blank Breakage
While I do agree that most of the lighter power K2 blanks are fragile and need to be taken care of, the 736 is an exception. I built the 736 K2 as a didicated frog rod about 3 years ago and it is still going strong after some hard fishing using 65lb braided line and hoisting fish out of the nasty st...
