Re: Good spinning reel for $200.00

Really funny how people rank the Patriarch, CI4, and Fuego. My only explanation is that the reels are slightly different from the factory. I have owned all three (got rid of the CI4) and rank them as follows -Fuego -Patriarch -CI4 My Fuego is noticeably smoother and I do mean noticeably smoother tha...

Wow, I have done some questionable mods, but this has got to be the ball-z-est thing I have ever seen. Fortunately it turned out awesome. Really looking forward to hearing how it performs.

Re: Bearing upgrade free spinning

I think the reason is probably pretty simple. First, you need to break the bearings in. I have noticed that after a couple days of fishing the bocas seem to run a little better. Once you've fished with them a little bit, clean and lube again. One drop of hot sauce oil or equivalent is enough. when y...

Patriarch spin knocking

I recently purchased a 9530 patriarch and after a day or two of fishing it developed a thudding/knocking feel upon retrieve. The knocking is more of a feel than a noise and it happens roughly 10 times per handle turn. Typically, I don't open up my spinning reels until they need it, but given the pro...

Re: Revo Toro 61 Calfish/Supertuned

Wow, I almost never comment on reels in this section, but man this thing in nice. Makes the Toro look so rare and exotic. Honestly, I imagine Daiwa's rebuttal to the Tranx when I look at this reel.

Re: Daiwa Fuego spinning reel

I can confirm, it's definitely 7 x 11 x 3. If your ordering you my as well pick up the handle knob bearing too, which is
4 x 7 x 2.5.

Re: Super Tuning a new Chronarch?

Yes it's worth it, especially if you want to cast lighter baits. I haven't done it to a 200 but I have put bocas in a 50 and the difference is night and day as far as light baits go. I run mine with no seals and a tiny drop of hot sauce after a good flush, though there are many good lubes out there....

Re: Steel Leaders, Heavy line, Why not?

I'm in Wisconsin so I face the same types of species. Tons of pike and some muskies. Typically If I'm in waters with tons of pike I use a 40# flouro leader for reaction baits and haven't had a bite off yet, though I have been close a few times. I have found that braid will easily be sliced by teeth ...

Re: Komodo or Advantage?

The Daiwa is bullet proof, however I've not read anything that would indicate the Okuma isn't a well build reel either. Okuma has been around for a long time and is quite reputable. Based on my experience with the Helios, which I believe to be essentially the same reel, I would probably go with the...

TW will be the death of me. 1500A is on the way and I just picked up a 2000 a couple weeks ago, so I am set, 4 interchangeable spools between 2 reels.

Fishing a small lake by my self and no one else on during a rain storm that had past... It was clear, or so I thought and out of no where when I was all the way in the back of the lake a Crack of lightning hit about 30 yards from me and made everything around me danced... The water danced and my ro...

Re: Stradic fj or Caldia

Bocas got a 25% off code that can be found in hot deals. With that deal I just ordered a knob bearing and drag bearing for under $13 shipped. You could get them much cheaper, but I decided to go with high quality hybrid bearings from Boca. Can't comment on the new stradic, just thought I'd let you k...

I knew you had a lot of gear, but man " a lot" does not do that collection justice. Good luck on that ZR1 trade :big grin: , those cars are just plain SICK.
