Re: abu Gen1 Premier braking

I would guess you can, not sure if Abu glued the magnets in the holder. i cured my Gen1s wayward ness by swapping over to Avail 3.1 spools with mag plate, and just used them as BFS reels, on shakespeare Agility IM8 rods, till they got stolen.

Re: Spool, REVO Premier Gen 1 Baitcasting Reel

2009-2012 sounds more like gen2 revos as I got my Gen2 Premiers in september 2009. He used to have the Avail 3.1 and 5.1 shallow spools and the relevant mag discs to fit them and also the shaft and bearing kits. I got a full 3.1 spool kit 5 years ago from him to turn an origonal ( 2007 I think) Gen1...

Re: Major Craft Fine Tail baitcast rods

Hi JROB loving the rods !
Is there a big difference in handling and casting distance between the 2 lengths ?
I,m looking for a tiny stream/ small river rod from 3 ft wide to 40 ft wide, would the 4' 10" handle both or should I go all TT and get both rods ?

Re: Show off your BFS Casting Reels

Going old school. Abu 2500C with mods including Avail spool, 2 bearing cog wheel and level winder. It can throw 1/20oz jig head with 2.5" baby shad in par with stock pixy 68, but much easier (very hard to backlash). http://i58.tinypic.com/zv3b80.jpg What a sweet outfit =D> =D> . Which KRX BFS rod i...

Re: toro winch owners

Doubt it,d work, maybe half ounce on a 51, but even then a lot of thumb would be needed.Might work if those Avail shallow supercast spools work in it.

Re: LTZ AE-74 Arrived! Now what line in which spools

Right thanks for the info Vidar, I,ll give them a try. The only shop I can currently find showing them in stock is Casterhouse. Has anyone traded with them ?

Re: BFS pt 1 : BFS vs UL spin, which side is Darker?

I,m currently using a Majorcraft Zaltz T792M rod and Daiwa 2004 Gekkabejin reel for ultralight work for trout and perch.
Very sensitive, fun combo , but still doesn,t feel as nice as my stolen light BC outfit.

Re: BFS pt2: the true enthusiast part, Setup and Tune!

Thanks for a very informative post. This is a style of fishing I,d like to get into, if only I could manage to source the rods and reels for it.
Is your Volkey the XUL 0.5-7g one ?

Re: ABU Revo LTZ AE-74 Abu's factory BFS weapon.

These sound to be the perfect reel for the fishing I want to do. Who,s the best people to get one from ? I,ve been trying to source an LT and its shallow spool for saltwater fishing, but I seem to keep having problems with Japanese sites. Maybe they don,t want to deal with the UK. Whats the 7' 8" ro...

Re: ABU Record NO 60

Could be a problem with the AR bearing thats in the spool. I,d ask the lads on alantani.com as theres a couple of threads about Records on there. Have a chat with Pete Coogan, lives in the Wirrel, he,s the UK Abu surgeon general, or Russ at Blakdog. You,ll find their contact details on World Sea Fis...

Just looking for something fairly cheap for fishing through dense brush into small streams, so I won,t cry when I break it.

Re: Looking for a good surf casting/big freshwater reel.

I use the Abu Record 61HC and 7001i and Revo Toro 61 HS for surf fishing. All seem durable so far with nearly 4 years of use. Akios are also worth a look. Penn do the 515 and 525 mag (squall 12 and 16) which are also highly rated by UK surf anglers. Daiwa have the Saltists and saltigas. Avets are al...
