Re: Drilling an Avail 16ALD15 Spool

I would map out all the holes on a piece of paper with their center point for drilling (like a drilling template) like mentioned above. See attached Pic below. Then carefully tape (or glue spray adhesive) the template around your spool. Next center punch all of your holes centers on your template t...

I believe Dawn, from Smooth Drag has them in stock. Call her and ask. Her prices are very reasonable along with her shipping.

So what kind of "thick" oil do you recommend?

Rocket Fuel Grease

Do any of you guys use this? What would be a good application for this on a baitcaster? Reason I'm asking is, I use rocket Fuel for all the bearings in my reel. This includes spool bearing, side plate bearing, cast control knob bearing, worm gear bearing and main shaft bearing. I find that my reels ...

Re: buying bearings in bulk

Thanks for the tips. I realize that on the whole Chinese bearings should generally be inferior to japanese bearings. I actually ordered abec 5 zz stainless for less than a buck a bearing. Minimal investment and I can try, if they work good I can order more. I always test all bearings for smoothness...

Re: Jighead Underspins with Gama or Owner hook

If you are pouring these yourself you can substitute the hooks you want or you can have them custom made to the hook you want also.

Polishing Main and Pinion Gears

So I have a question for you guys. My gen 1 Revo Premier has brass gears throughout, and there is no problem with that. On my Revo MGX, the pinion gear look like it has a black coating, and the main gear looks dull gray. They are both metal. Can I polish these the way I polish brass gear sets, or is...

Re: Bearings have me Perplexed

The bearing cages could've tightened by lateral pressure and if they were plastic they could've deformed. Running metal caged bearings dry is a no go because of the added friction points - oil being the modifier and why the bearing performs when "wet". Don't know what happened after clean...

Re: Bearings have me Perplexed

Need you some speed spool hi-speed custom spool speed bearings   I would have put in new bearings once I knew the original bearings didn't spin well, after they were cleaned. However, this was not my reel and my friend didn't want to spend $20-$30 for bearings. I still wonder how the ree...

Re: Bearings have me Perplexed

It looks like the cage is metal. I did not use Acetone, I used Naphtha. Acetone is a lot stronger than Naphtha which is lighter fluid. That's all the info I have.

Bearings have me Perplexed

So I go to clean a Pflueger spinning reel (1990's) for a friend of mine. I do the regular clean and start to check the two bearings in the reel. One on handle side and one opposite side. They look dirty and do spin some. I go to clean the bearings in my ultrasonic cleaner with naphtha. Take them out...
