If you're looking for Ian, he can be found at https://jdmfishing.com/shields/. I just sent him some reels last week.

Re: Daiwa J-Fluoro Samurai Fluorocarbon
I have been using the hidden version in 7lb on a Steez CT SV mounted on an AGS Finesse Game Special. I throw mostly ned rigs and small swimbaits. The line has been great. No break-offs. Casts very well. I'm going to try it on my jerkbait set-ups this season. It seems to be of higher quality than Sun...

I would try the 873. It falls in between the 893 and 894 for me.

Re: Casting Ned Rig rod
I like the Daiwa Steez AGS 6'8" light for Ned's. I have a Phenix K2 713 ML but I use it mostly for small jerkbaits.

Re: Japanese PE line strength?
I use the line diameter and not the pound test. I use YKG X8 on my spinning reels. The box says 22lb. The diameter is .067 which should be about 10 lb breaking strength so that is what I consider it. I'm not sure how YKG determines their lb test for X8 but it seems wildly over-rated.

Backlash PSA
I bought a new zillion a month ago. I put line on it and mounted it on a rod. I was out last Saturday for the first time this season. I picked up the rod and laid into a nice cast. All of a sudden, boom. The worst backlash I've had in a while. I forget to set the brakes. They were on 0. Lesson learn...

Re: Best all around Daiwa Casting Reel ?
I also agree about the 21 Zillion. It can handle 1/4 oz to 1 oz with no issues. Has a stock 90mm handle and clicker in drag. Weighs in at 6.7 oz USDM, even lighter if you buy JDM. There are plenty of spool options. The price is great for what you get.

Re: Preferred Wacky Rig Setup? NRX/Megabass
If I’m around cover, I like NRX 893. For open water, I like Steez 7’6” MML, blue version.

Re: I think price should be left out of TT review score
I think you need the price listed in the review. As an example, I expect more out of an Exist than I do a Certate. If you compare the two head to head without considering the price, the Exist wins without question. Put price into the equation and it changes. Could you compare a $500 plus rod to a $2...

Re: 23 Airity coming soon
Does anyone know when they will be released in Japan and what the prices will be? Lots of information including date of release and the table at the bottom has MSRP pricing for each new model at the far right. Link: https://www.lurenewsr.com/245613/ Thanks for the link. Yes, yes, almost every trip, and yes. I like .067 braid diameter on all of my 4 spinning reels.

Re: Jerkbait rod
110's MB X4 Rattle Viper Technical Game - Nice deep bend. Great for cold water. MB X4 110 Special - More power than Rattle Viper TG. Great over grass. Otterrods custom built on a K2 blank - Incredibly light and crisp. Works great when I'm throwing jerkbaits for multiple days in a row as it cuts down...

Re: Line Diameter Comparisons
I ignore the pound test rating and use line diameter. It was a tough transition because I was raised to buy using pound test. The question I have is how accurate is the line diameter listed on the box?
