Re: Store brand rods and reels
There are a lot of Cabela's rods that I like. I tend to stick with name brand reels though. The Tatula variants can be found for around $100. I think Cabela's brand rods are a thing of the past. I was in the Billings, MT store last week and the only Cabela's rods were the ones on clearance. I asked...

Re: 2 piece casting rod
I have not looked in years but at one time Cabela's had 2pc rods in the XML series. I picked up a 2pc 7mh and I am shocked at how nice the rod is. I would say the action is a plain Fast or maybe on the moderate side of fast. Very sensitive, balanced. I bit heavy at 5oz for a 7MH rod but very nice a...

Re: Curado E vs Curado I
Don't forget about the Chronarch E's, they are very similar or the same as the Curado E series, except they are white.

Maybe about as long as you would live if someone put a plastic bag over your head and tied a string around your neck.

Re: 2-Piece medium casting rod
DavidSA: I think Cabelas is discontinuing (or has discontinued) the XML line. They had them on sale for 1/2 price in mid-December so I asked the guy in the fishing dept. and he indicated they were coming out with a new line that would replace the XML's. Finding a good 2-piece 7 ft. casting rod is no...

Find someone that reloads ammo; they should have a powder scale that can weigh something that small.

Re: What would you like to have on a Fishing Rod?
I would like to see some two piece casting rods in the 7' to 7 1/2' range. It is very difficult to take a one piece rod of that length on an airplane.

Re: "Castifying" a spinning rod
One thing you could do is buy an inexpensive two piece spinning rod blank and build it as a casting rod. Someone one said, "A rod don't know what it's going to be until it is built." I would like to find a good source of two piece casting rods that are 7 or 7 1/2 ft that are designed for 6-12 pound ...

Re: Upgrading Reels with Ceramic Hybrid Bearings
I think there is another point here that seems to have been missed and should be mentioned. BlaineFred mentioned in his original post that he had the reels tuned and used them for a year before sending them in for routine maintenance. Had he not sent the reels in after a year he would never have kno...

Re: homemade spooling station
I just looked at the set up again and have this idea: What if you would make the block holding the rod that the line spool fits over a little taller and then run a threaded rod through the block and hold in place with washers and nuts on each side. Then use wing nuts, washers and springs on each sid...
