I love my Fuegos. They started me on the path to Daiwa. With respect to setting the hook and having the drag slip; I thumb down on all my reels when setting the hook, just a habit now.

I fish a lake that is hard to catch LM bass in summer also, the problem is the oxygen levels in the deeper part of the lake are non existant so the fish won't go where they can't breath. Had I an unlimited budget, I would likely do the following:

-drop an HLC spool in there
-carbontext drag upgrade
-worm bearing upgrade
-replace spool bearings with ABEC 9's
-carbon fiber 90+mm handle
-custom paint
-supertune internals

At some point during a heavy load, odds are that line will touch. It may not during normal casting and moderate flexing, but under a heavy load it may. It could also be that you have more than enough guides on the rod. If your static testing and guide spacing indicate you should have a guide there,...

I prefer 6.3:1 as an all around spinner reel and a 7.1:1 for buzzbaits.
