Re: Careful, It Might Bite You, Evergreen's One's Bug

From all the poppers out there this was one of the least interesting to review.

Why not the Deps PulseCod with the spring loaded weight? :-k

Maybe its on the way...

Re: The Re-REVOlution Begins, First Look at the 2013 Revo

The new REVO line seems nice specially in terms of weight and ergonomics. The rest seems to be the MGX technology coming down to the rest of the line. Concerning the spool design: wider spool (as someone already mentioned) will increase the line drag upon casting. Also, when looking at the presenta...

Re: Getting in the Groove with Daiwa's T3 Ballistic

About the issue on the front side of the reel frame: In my opinion, this may be user related error. What I picture from the photos is the user solving a bird nest by taking a lot of line out of the reel. To reel the line tight, the user grabs the rod in front of the reel and hold the line between t...

Re: Getting in the Groove with Daiwa's T3 Ballistic

I just wonder why some get a pass and discussion topic locked. For sure, PureFishing was less unhappy. Again, in my opinion, no reel, brand or manufacturer should get a pass. This just corrupts the system of evaluation. [-X From the article: "Earlier this year, I gave the Abu Garcia MGX a pass...

Re: Is the Revo MGX the New Lightweight King?

Sorry Damian but if the sideplate screw thing were to occur on a Shimano the response would have been: "What are YOU DOING to damage/break that reel? There is no possible way Shimano could be responsible! Please submit, in detail, the exact position of your hands [yes, right and left] during t...

Re: Is the Revo MGX the New Lightweight King?

I thought there was only one issue? I just don't think its right to review something out of its intended purpose and say its bad because of that. Same goes for comparing it against the Pixy in the review. I never said the MGX is better than a Steez. Personally I don't think it is. I think for the p...

Re: Is the Revo MGX the New Lightweight King?

Just my opinion. The MGX is a finesse baitcaster as much as the Steez. This was really the target. Cant imagine why anyone compares the MGX with the Pixy. To do such comparison, Abu provided the LTX. Addressing the drag of the MGX with max at 5 lb, if compared with the 8lb of the Steez or Pixy which...

Why not??
Because there are screws that are unscrewed once a year or never and others that are unscrewed anytime you need to gain assess.

The screw here discussed fits best in the second category in my opinion.

My 2 cents .

Re: Is the Revo MGX the New Lightweight King?

Well, I did some testing myself and here are my results. My test: I placed my line over an aluminum tube like a pulley for a 4' total distance between spool and Berkley digital scale. I was alone so I improvised, didn't measure drag off the end of a rod. MGX Reel 1, Test 1: 16lb Shooter Metan Invis...

Re: What the Finesse ?!? : Daiwa's PX68/68L

I'm very sure that a even better reel is about to cross the ocean and land in the US. :-$ I mean better because it will be for sure less expensive, lighter, have all the clicks, be as fast as this one, remaining a Daiwa reel and will have warranty. What else... :big grin: maybe it comes already with...

Re: The Speed Spool Returns – Lew’s Tournament Pro Baitcaste

So you are saying that the Lew's reels will not last more then 3 months of fishing because you looked at the pics of the reel on T.T. review and saw that they have plastic parts inside the reel. It is funny that Cal never once said anything about this reel would not hold up more then 100 days of fi...

Re: The Speed Spool Returns – Lew’s Tournament Pro Baitcaste

Tackle Tour used a LEW'S on there trip to the Amazon, and there plastic reels caught 10lb Peacock Bass, they also said they got 16.25lb of drag out of the stock reel. And? I don't dough that. What I mentioned from the begging was the cheap construction. This can be better seen over the time. For su...
