Re: JDM Ultralight Crankbaits 2014
I have fished those lures before and for the money they work great. They were the old Lews Speed minnow when I first purchased them several years ago.

Re: JDM Ultralight Crankbaits 2014
Just ordered the DUO Tetra Works Toto 42 floater. I always thought the Toto only came in a sinker, but found that in Russia a floating model is available. Most of the rivers that I fish are very shallow so a floating lure tends to work better. I fished the Ecogear MX48 this weekend. This lure is sup...

Re: JDM Ultralight Crankbaits 2014
While the Grace Minnow looks like a number of other minnow lures, it seems to perform at a much higher level. Allsorts, I am curious about some of the Duo sinking minnow lures, like the Spearhead Ryuki 45 and the Tetra Works Minnow 42. I supsect from past posts that you have used these two lures. Ho...

Re: JDM Ultralight Crankbaits 2014
I just placed a couple of orders from that e-bay store for several Rigge 35s and Duo Grace minnows. I look forward to doing some regular busness with that seller. They have a number of ultra-light lures including some Cheerful 34 lures that are in colors not listed on Pontoon 21's web site.

Re: JDM Ultralight Crankbaits 2014
If you prefer an ultra-light wake bait then the pontoon 21 Hypnose lure is a good choice. Old man Tyler caught a chunky little smallmouth on the Hypnose on one our Virginia rivers this past summer. This lure has a wide wobble that attracts active feeding fish. The Hypnose works well in both river cu...

Re: JDM Ultralight Crankbaits 2014
Also here is a nice little sunfish caught by Tyler using a Pontoon 21 Fop. The Fop is a balsa wood alphabet plug that stays very shallow. I have had the best luck with the Fop in ponds and lakes. It runs very shallow. The hits that I receive on this lure are usually very aggressive and explosive. I ...

Re: JDM Ultralight Crankbaits 2014
I remember exchanging e-mails with AllSorts who has lived in both Europe and Africa and indicates that ultra-light anglers are seen as odd birds the world over. He was kind enough to hook me up on some of my first Zipbaits Rigge 35 slow floaters. These lures are small and deadly on both smallmouth b...

Re: Anyone use Nanoline for UL?
I have been using Nanofil for the past year and would have a difficult time switching back to mono. I have had excellent success with the "Fishing Fool" knot on 4 and 6 pound test. This knot also performed well on Knot Wars which is where I first found the knot. It is simple to tie even with lures t...

Re: UL setup under $100?
The best "cheap" UL I fished a while back was the Bass Pro Micro Lite rods. The were inexpensive, but had a solid backbone and fast action. I also used a Plueger Presidents at one time. I don't remember the real being great, but I also don't remember it being a dog. If a reel stinks, I usually remem...

Re: Favorite UL line
I fish for smallmouth bass in our Virginia rivers and have used Nanofill this entire season. I have not had any abnormal problems with rocks, but as I previously stated you need to keep a look out on fraying. I do not backfill the reel since I am using a 1000 size shimano reel. Basically a 150 yard ...

Re: Favorite UL line
I know some have complained about Nanofil, but I have enjoyed using Nanofil in both 4 and 6 lb. test. It casts great is very sensitive and has performed well on the rivers I fish most often. If you want to try Nanofil, be aware that it is not cheap and tht you need to be vigilent about check for fra...

Re: ARGHHHHHHH !!!!!
Use Scotty rod holders that lock you rod in place. But remember to lock you rods in place otherwise you will cacrifice another combo to Neptune like I did two years ago. Now I remember to lock them in place before going through the rapids.

Re: Favorite jigs?
Nice flounder. I just picked up a couple of bags of 1/16 oz. Gamakatsu jigs with size 1 black hooks for both the Yamamoto 2 inch grubs and the Ecogear Grass Minnow. I used Pro-Tec powder paint to paint them black, then baked them in the oven to harden the finish. They feel sharp. I am looking forwar...

Re: Favorite jigs?
Right now I would say that my favorites are a 2 inch Kalin Triple Threat grub with a 1/16 oz. Luck-E Strike two color jig head with a black nickle gamakatsu hook and a 2 inch Yamamoto crappie grub with a 1/32 oz. Luck-E Strike two color jig head with a black nickle gamakatsu hook. These two grubs se...

Re: Standing Yabbies
They work great. They are soft and the bluegill will bite off the claws. The side benefit is that you end up with the best ultralight standup jig head I have ever fished. I keep the jig heads and fish them with a Kalin grub body. The hook is very sharp.
