Re: Bearing cleaning in ultrasonic cleaner

I bought it second-hand at a junk store. Theres no nomenclature on it at all. I assume its just a cheapo, made in China product. It has a snap-on lid and and removable cup/liner, with suction cup feet, and runs on 3 AA baterries. Something like this? Mine is simpler, closer to this. https://www.ama...

Old pixy parts. Line guides, CCC, offset drag,

Aliexpress has custom parts for reasonable prices. In the past, Ive resorted to buying entire reels to scavenge parts from.

Re: Bearing cleaning in ultrasonic cleaner

I use a small battery powered vibration-type cleaner. I use 91% isopropyl alcohol for cleaning solution, then dry them on a towel with a hair dryer. Ive only had one bearing change from "good" to "bad" with a cleaning. I suspect that it was already bad, and I only removed the crud from the pits in t...

I'd gone for a long time without trying a Carolina rig, then used it like crazy for like 2 years with great luck.
This is one of my go-to techniques. I even use them up shallow with a short leader, sort of a stroker rig. The zoom lizard is my all-time favorite soft plastic on a c-rig.

Re: Red Zillion SV TW 1000.

Really hard to tell from the picture if mismatched hood on this one. I wonder where can we just get just the parts. Last time I have a friend contact Daiwa Malaysia with no success. May be red hood would look better on HD instead of flat black? This 'red' zillion is actually burgundy. Not sure that...

Re: Things You Have NEVER Tried

No magnum spoons for me, either. Ive never fly fished, but I learned how to use a fly rod in my buddy's back yard. Ive never used a spybait or a ned rig. Dont kill me for this, but I can count on one hand how many times Ive thrown a suspending jerkbait and Ive never thrown a Vision 110. Blasphemy! ...

Re: New pixy

I am interested in a new Alphas or Pixy for BFS. I was looking at the Alphas 800S (shallow spool) or the Air version. My old Alphas SV105 with a 33mm spool doesn't cast very well when the line guide is all the way to the left or right. Once you take off about 2mm of line from the top of the spool, ...

Re: Red Zillion SV TW 1000.

What kind of a sane person uses a quality carbon handle with that kind of nut retainers? :laugh1: It looks like one of those cheap chinease handles that sort of look like an RCS carbon. Still the plastic nut retainer is dumb. I bet Daiwa got a lot of negative feedback from the US about the colored ...

Re: Red Zillion SV TW 1000.

The paint on my Salamadura Air has proven very durable so far while beating the bushes around my little ponds. This appears to be the same paint. I sort of wish it had a black glossy frame like my reel, though.

One thing for sure, look at the price increase since this thread was created.
I recently had the same thought. However, they are still much cheaper than ZPI and KTF. Even at current prices, they still offer a solid cost-to-performance ratio (imo).

Re: New pixy

How about another Tatula. The new BF 70 is coming. That makes 12 Tatulas listed on Daiwa's web sight. This is based on the Alphas Air TW, not the tatula 70/80 frame. The new Tatula BF 70 is already available on Tackle Warehouse. It has a BFS spool. Gotcha. The overseas market already has the Salama...
