Re: Similarities between Patriarch XT and Lew's Tournament P

Wow, some interesting comments here. I have Premiers and Patriarch XTs as well as Lews Tournament Pros and my Lews reels are just as good as the others. The Lews casts 1/4oz baits just fine as well as 5/16, 3/8, 1/2 and even 3/4oz jigs, spinner baits, t-rigs etc... I only have 2 pins set on the cent...

Re: What to get reel in $100 range

Carbon Lite or Pro Qualifer or the Lews Speed Spool, I have the Lews Tournament Pros and love them and have heard nothing but good things about the Speed Spool.

Re: Cumulus, don't hear much about them.

I don't think its the weight that turns people off, but the fact that their MH rods feel like M or ML rods when you test the tip. I was really surprised how light of power the MH seemed. It seemed like it wouldn't stand a chance fishing heavy cover like my other MH's. But maybe its just deceiving l...

Re: Looking to step up from Mojo ... Why Dobyns?

I have always used St Croix rods and yes they are on the tip heavy side. Our local Cabelas just started carrying Dobyns and I have looked at them but that is about it. The Champion rods look very nice but the Extreme rods, I just do not care for the painted reel seats at all. But to each their own. SJ

Re: Pflueger Supreme XT or Abu Garcia Soron STX?

I love my Soron STX and both spools do have the same drag. The braid ready spool is very nice. The reel is a little on the heavy side but it is built like a tank and will hold up to anything you can throw at it. The reel is very smooth and I have not encountered any problems with the bail at all. SJ

Re: To Tube or not to Tube?

I love to fish tubes. My favorites are the Yum tubes, I also like the Strike King coffee scent tubes as well. I like the Owner Phantom tube hook the best for rigging them.

Re: when to throw swim jigs?

I will throw a swim jig year round as well. I will throw them before a spinner bait and I will throw them anywhere and anytime. I have yet to find a time of the year that they don't produce.

Re: Champion 703SF vs Crucial 6'8 M/XF

If your going to be drop shotting in 20 to 30 feet of water I would use the 7' 2" Curcial rod. I have the 6' 8" and 7' 2" and use them both for drop shotting and shakey heads as well as other finesse type applications and have never had a problem with any of my Crucial rods.

Re: curado 50E or Lew's speed spool tournament pro

A good friend bought a Lews an it broke on third fishing trip.He took it back to the dealer and they replaced it.The dealer said replacement parts are a problem. Interesting, I have 5 of the Tournament PROs and 2 of their spinning reels and have not had any problems with them. Lews customer service...
