I went through the same thing, 744 vs 784. In the end I got the 744, but it feels really weak throwing a 3/8 jig with trailer....Now I have the 745c...Its a sick beast! I would get the 745, the 744 feels like a 743 or weaker...maybe I got a bad one, not sure.

I got both and love the Chronarch for lighter stuff....the premier is sick to, but I like it better for heavier things.

I think you should go with the DX745c. I have the DX743 and 744. The 743 I use for senkos and weightless plastics, but it could take heavier stuff.
