On top of that you get to pay the dreaded brokerage fees which may be 50 bucks on top of everything else.
Rodbuilders supply in Victoria has the MHX blanks and St Croix.

If you are going after the Batson line up why not go with http://www.utmostenterprises.com/utmost_001.htm
They are right beside batsons so there shouldn't be a back order issue and shipping is reasonable.

Yes it is done all the time. How else would you be able to replace a broken guide? Heat the thread wrap with a lighter gently. Take a razor blade and laying it flat cut the threads ontop of the guide foot. Peel off the remaining threads and remove the remaining epoxy. You may need to use a very fine...

If you are cranking with the tip down in the water and your rod is sprial wrapped are you not in effect having the same as a guides on top rod as the guides are away from the lure causing a torquing effect on the tip?
