Re: Calais DC feels like a coffee grinder

Thanks for your advices. I wanted to let you know how this worked out. I got a new gear-set from an e-tailer, brushed it with Cal's Grease and put the reel back together. I fish it now since 3 weeks, throwing Squarebills like the Balsa Big-O and Bombers Model B, LC RC 2.5 and similar plugs. The reel...

Re: Calais DC feels like a coffee grinder

Crankin is a very wide field. For deeprunners it is a bit fast, yes. But i think its a phantastic reel for going ballistic with squarebills, lipless and other shallow divers and burn them back to you. The casting distance you get with this reel sure is an advantage for covering water. The same goes ...

Re: Calais DC feels like a coffee grinder

good question Bantam. I was fishing from shore and didnt want to take more than 2 rigs with me. The other had braid on the spool and was a Swimbait-Combo. So i decided to give the calaisDC a try. It handled it great, more than enough power. I reeled very slow. So i guess i better do not use it anymo...

Calais DC feels like a coffee grinder

Bantam, i got a NIB Calais 201DC this winter. It was smooth like butter, there was no noise or anything while cranking. The reel was used for different applications like swimjigs, jerkbaits and cranking. Lately i used it a couple of weeks for deep cranking with high resistance baits like the Norman ...

Re: Calais DC feels like a coffee grinder

Anyone else here that did some deep crankinh with the CalaisDC?

I'm not sure either about the lo-speed gearset from the Antares 201DC. Will it fit the CalaisDC?
I guess it would. Did someone here ever try this mod?

Re: Calais DC feels like a coffee grinder

The pinion-bb is fine. I did what you propose several times, and all BB are smooth. Could the rollerbearing cause such a ruckus? I dont think so, plus i tested it and there is no slipping whatsoever. The reel has never seen saltwater at all.

Calais DC feels like a coffee grinder

Hi, i hope someone here can give me an advice. First, i own a few casting reels and have worked on hundreds of different reels. Now, 8 months ago i got a NIB Calais 201DC. The reel worked flawless, it was smooth as butter. I used it for swimjigs, jerkbaits and lot of cranking from shallow to super-d...

Luna 203L: Lost spool tension knob

Hi guys I have a Luna 203L where the spool tension knob is missing. Living in Europe, its quite challenging to get any USDM-reelparts. On the other hand, its very easy to order JDM-reelparts trough Plat or similiar shops. Does anyone here know, if the cap from a CV-Z203L (JDM-Version) will fit on th...

Re: Daiwa PX68 SPR by Murakami Haruhiko

I own both, the PX68L and the PX68L "S.P.R.". So far i do not see any big differences in casting distance, as long as you do not switch to the REAL light stuff. But sincerly, when you start casting micro-jigs with 2/32oz weight and still prefer to leave your spinning-outfit at home, the SPR smokes t...

Daiwa Galore

I hope my wife will never ever find out how much these two toys actually cost. Both arrived this morning in different boxes. Can't wait to try em. =P~ Why had Daiwa to bring out a lefty Z2020? Or a PX68 with centrifugal brakes? ](*,) http://tackle-junkies.com/coppermine/albums/userpics/juniord...
