Re: Glass Rods

The feel is totally different. Vibrations are not transmitted with the same speed in both materials : glass is so less sensitive. You can't achieve that with graphite , even with low modulus graphite. It's very useful for some kind of fishing, in my opinion : crankbaits and vibrations, and for flyfi...

Re: Glass Rods

The Swift Epic 686 (8'6 line 6, 3 pces), fast glass blank is a wonderful tool for those applications. I couldnb't be happier with mine.

Re: what weight do you use for bass?

I use fiberglass rod to cast flies that make a bump in the line : fiberglass absorb this bump and is way more comfortable than graphite. It loads much more easily than graphite rods. I have a custom rod that I built on a 686 Epic blank (8'6 line 6) that is the best rod I've used with small streamers...

Re: Favorite species to target on a fly?

The mediterranean zebra brown trout, that I fish in eastern France : the most technical fishing I know, especially when sight fishing with dries or very light nymphs. A kinf of "Graal" in fly fishing. Unfortunately these fishes tend to disapear due to the various aggressions and pollutions our frenc...

Re: Does cost really matter?

Under 8' or 8'6, you can find very good "cheap" rod. As an exemple, I have a Winston Passport in 8'6 line 4 and it's a great smooth rod. Things become more complex with longer rods and powerful rods. I don't say that you need to spend 700 $ to have a good rod in these lenghts and powers but the best...

Sage makes good rods but they aren't the best value for money, IMHO. Go custom !

Re: metanium w/ BFS spool (pics for the curious)

Hello, Could tell us how it works with the BFS Spool (a short review if you have time...) ? I use a Steez baitcaster with Megabass BFS spool (the silver one for IS) and the performances are great but I'm little concerned about the Steez durability : I have problems with the line guide system which i...
