I have no affiliation with Shimano - I just wanted to point out that the T3 reel you mention is proprietary and very different from other reels, and the rod that this reel was on was a custom rod with a guide system not available in an off-the-shelf factory rod. I grab mono and pull it... doing so takes some stress off the reel.
Sometimes it won't break that way, and starts to burn my hand... in those cases, a wooden dowel is useful, or wrap the line five or more times around the soft cork or EVA rod grip and pull.
