Re: Abu Veracity

From reading specs & impressions, they seem like a Verdict with the Nano coating like the Veritas & Micro-guides without the stupid extending handle and going by the fact the Verdict disappeared from Abu's site, it's replacement. I'm definitely interested, as I really like my Verdict outside of the ...

Re: Spring Favorites

If there's wind & chop, lipless & spinnerbait. If it's calm, I'll go to a jig or drop shot a Roboworm or 3" soft stick bait. Jerkbaits(hard & soft) are popular from what I've read, but I have little experience or success with them.

Re: What is your finesse casting rod?

Powell 682 is finesse as I get before picking up spinning gear. Finally getting a true finesse reel to put on it, a Revo LT, so I'm thinking I'll be able to get significantly lighter than I was with any of my standard Revos.

Re: New cabelas Catolog

I don't bother looking at their catalogs, but I have found so many deals in the Bargain Cave, that Cabela's is still one of the outdoor stores I go to most. BPS sales & their clearance stuff sucks in comparison, their only sale that's worthwhile is their Spring Classic & I haven't even been impresse...

Re: Abu Garcia: Gen 2 vs Gen 3

I have Gen 2 Premiers, STX, Winch & Gen 3 STXes, Winch & the weight drop in the STX makes it a win for me, although it does drop some smoothness from the 2, but still very good reels & disappear in hand. Gen 3 Premier can suck it due to the IVCB brakes & price jump & I like the solider feel of the G...

If you start pushing your political or religious views with products you're trying to sell, you just sold me on something else.

Re: Trilene XL Armour & Sensation discontinued?

The new & improved XL has all the same selling points(less stretch, extra toughness, etc) they used when Armour Coat came out, so I think it's redundant to keep both around. Sensation has always kind of been a back seat line for Berkley, so I could see them coming out with something new or just drop...

Re: Deep Crankin Reel

Not quite 6, but the Gen 3 Winch & Lew's TP1S both come in under 7 & are very nice reels with plenty of power for deep cranking. TW has the TP1S for under $170 now too. If you're a lefty, the Lew's bows out of the competition. Q Exos meet the 6oz criteria if you are a righty & don't have something a...

Re: All aluminum LP baitcaster...?

If you're looking for super fast, the new Revo Rocket has gone back to aluminum sideplates instead of the carbon of the Gen 3s. I'm hoping for more of a G2 Premier(weight & everything else lines up about right outside of stupid fast gear ratio) feel from it instead of the hollower feel of the G3s.

Re: Your Next Reel Purchase?

Revo Rocket will be my next purchase, although it could be a while before I actually do get it. I have 2 G3 STX-SHS I got in April I've hardly used this year, so I'm in no hurry to get one.

Re: Gen 3 Revo Winch Power Handle Options

I'd think about any Abu Revo handle should fit, since they use the same nut & lock washer on all that I have. The only ones that'd be have an issue would be if you try putting a bent handle on a reel with a straight star.

Re: 6'8 medium extra fast to replace my powell

Fenwick ESMC69M-XF is a very solid feeling rod in the price range you're looking & can usually be found well under their MSRP. Not a whole lot of options in that price range, but I've been pretty impressed with my Fenwick outside of a reel seat issue, which Fenwick took care of with no hassle.

Re: Fluorocarbon Tricks For Baitcaster ?

Use backing if you're not already. I've found fluoro handles a lot better when I have the bottom half of the spool cheap mono with a double uni taped down, seems a lot tamer than when I was going fluoro to the spool. Oh and it saves money too. And forget your mono brake settings, you're gonna need s...

Re: Interested in new revo

Sweet, aluminum alloy sideplates instead of carbon. I don't have any issues with the sideplate on the G3s, but I do like the aluminum sideplates on the G2s better, so that's a plus for me. If they start popping up on the auction site for close to $200, I'll definitely be getting one.
