Re: Anyone have any recent experiences with NFC?
I just received an Epitome SJR764-1S spinning rod that I purchased back in September last year. It was on sale for $295 plus $10 federal excise tax with free shipping. I specifically ordered it for great lakes smallie fishing which is my favorite species to target even though I live in SE Florida. A...

Re: New Certate?
I just got the 2024 Certate LT3000-CH. It's lighter in hand than previous model. The bail wire is thinner in gauge. It feels very much like my Exist PCLT2500-H. I have not fished it yet but I think it will compare very favorably to the Exist at a less expensive price.

Some Lake Toho bass from last week. Landed my first Hudd 68 fish ever which was cool.

Re: Gloomis IMX 966C
I have the Gloomis 904C SWBR and it's rated 1/2 to 3. It handles 3/4 to 3oz very well. It's 7'6" and rated mod-fast like the 966C. I think the 966C will deliver 2.5 to 6.5 oz with no problem. It will make a nice live shiner rod as well if you go that route.
Re: Rain Gear
I have a set of Cabelas gore tex guide wear bibs & jacket and they keep you dry. I also bought a light rain suit jacket & pants from LL Bean which are also gore tex & they also do the job. The light weight set from LL Bean is marketed more like a golf rain gear set.

Re: Chatterbait Weight vs Application
You need to determine what weight will get you in contact with the bottom based on current. Then try fishing it like a blade bait. Drop to bottom & rip back up a few feet then repeat.

Re: Was Braided Line a Game Changer for You?
As a Florida resident I use lots of braid because of the heavy vegetation. I recently found while using my favorite copoly line Suffix Advantage that it broke off twice on heavy hooksets when fishing shiners. I was using 20lb Adavantage as leader with 20lb braid via a back to back uni. Both breaks o...

Re: Any opinion?
I own the 15lb, and it’s very accurate. When we weigh 5 bass for tourneys our total is always within 1oz. Very easy to judge what the weight is, even when it’s between the lines. Not sure how IGFA does it for records though. They have been doing it for years and don’t seem to have any issues certif...

Re: What Did You Use (Hardbait) to Catch Your PB?
The same bait caught both my recent PB's. Strike King red eye shad 3/4 oz lipless. Bottom one went 10-2 & the top one went 11-8.

Re: Better braid to prevent digging on bfs reel?
Have you tried Suffix 131? It's the smoothest best casting braid I have used. Super round shape.

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!
Made it back up to Erie PA for 5 days of fishing for smallmouth. We got blown off the water the first two days because of wind/waves. And fishing on day three was restricted because of small craft warning for that day. The last two days we were able to fish where I wanted to go. We had 12 smallies o...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!
Wow! I'd be afraid it would bite me! While they do have have a daunting set of teeth, they tend to clamp their mouths shut when caught to the point of it's almost impossible to get them open. That being said, I still handle them with the utmost of caution as I'm sure they could inflict some serious...
