Re: Mine Pit Bass
Nice fish dragon! I'll have to add a few more to my order now. I'm glad rainbows hit them too and I hope the bigger brookies will also be intersted. You might be surprised at what could be in there. Im in Maryland, where a 5-6lb bass is a hog. I still catch bass on them. And since its colder where y...

Re: Mine Pit Bass
Haha! There's gotta be a few piggies hangin' out, getting fat on all those trout, eh? I wish! This is northern Minnesota and a 5 pound fish is hawg up here. Maybe a 6'' Hudd or baby optimum would be the ticket though, I guess I'll have to find out . Might also find the biggest trout in Miner's with...

Mine Pit Bass
Miner's Lake is what remains of the old Pioneer mine just north of Ely. It is a popular lake for stocked rainbow and brook trout but contains a small and largely unpressured bass population consisting of both smallmouth and largemouth bass. Water clarity is 20+ feet at it's worst and 30+ at it's bes...

Re: T3 Ballistic Spool Issue
Many thanks, Toad. Hopefully Daiwa is helpfull or else I'll just set the reel aside for future supertuning. Maybe throw in a better spool along with bearings and a different handle assembly.

T3 Ballistic Spool Issue
IMG_1225.JPG This happened last week while frogging and I'm not sure how or if it can be repaired. I was launching my frog like normal and got a severe unexpected backlash. I'm not sure if the backlash casused the inductor cup to come loose or vice versa but I knew the reel didn't feel right afterw...

Re: Spring Run Steelhead
Counting down the days till the 14th of April. Hopefuly there will be a good run this opener. I fish the North Shore of Superioir and typicaly drift a spawn sack or yarn fly early in the year. Some artificials work well too, my favorites being small krocodile spoons or little cleos. Where exactly ar...

TD Fuego Spinning
Tackle Warehouse will be the end of me. I bought the reel because it was 45% off and later realized that I lacked an open spinning rod to put it on. Still have lots of winter ahead but I would like to decide on a rod before I forget to get one and spend everything on a kayak come spring. Anyone use ...

Re: T3 not as smooth as I thought...
Zaion material has the same stuff that goes into kevlar vests (aromatic Nylon) which help protect the troops down in afghani. So if its good enough for the US military why wouldnt it be good enough for Bass fishing. Hence the name Ballistic. I also came across a post about the grooving issue and no...

Re: T3 not as smooth as I thought...
Not trying to be hater, but what's the appeal with this reel? $429- no bearings in the handles, no worm drive bearing, plastic worm drive, aluminum gears, loud 'geary' sound, not smooth, plastic body, and line cuts grooves in the body due to the design. I mean it looks pretty cool, but for $429? I ...

Re: What makes a good jerkbait rod?
A graphite, fast action, medium power rod under 7' in length fits the bill well. A fast tip gives the baits good action and gives better hooksets on slack line than a moderate rod. The medium power gives a bit of flex to compensate for the fast tip and is ideal for casting most jerkbaits. Length is ...

Re: Schemes and Plots
I'll be saving as much money as possible to afford a new kayak come May so spending much on other gear is out of the question. Completed routine tackle maintainance over break so all I have to contend with is class, work, and northern Minnesota cold. I will probaly go ice fishing to scratch the itch...

Re: Got a Ballistic today + question
Despite the "geary" feeling, my question is how's on the water performance between the Ballistic and T3? I read somewhere on the forum that the T3's RCS spool is slightly lighter, but is it that noticeable in live performance? Thinking of getting a Ballistic if not that much more performance is gai...
