GLX 844 MBR vs GLX 854 JWR
Looking to pick up a rod for jigs. Will be mostly 3/8 and 1/2 ounce with occasional 3/4. What really is the difference between the two other than 1 inch and slightly different lure ratings? I would prefer a little softer tip for skipping. One last thought, I've only owned one Dobyns from the Fury li...

Re: Lightning Rod Shock ($9)
At $9 you got an amazing deal. Agree with above that they are great beater rods.

Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty
Baitcast and spinning I throw left and reel right. Fly rod I throw right and reel left. Makes no sense to me either but just feels right.

A-rig/ swimbait reel
Looking at the Lexa 300, Curado 300, and Lews Super duty. Trying to keep it under $200. Reel will be going on a Dobyns Fury 795 running 50lb braid with a leader. I know the new Tranx is out but I'm trying to remain on budget. Primarily will using it for rigs and smaller glide baits like the S Waver ...

Budget Crankbait Rod
I'm looking to pick up a new crankbait rod soon and would like some input. It's going to be mainly used for throwing DD22s and 6XDs. My goal is to get better at deep cranking but I don't want to break the bank either. I currently have a W&M Skeet Reese 7ft crankbait rod but would like to upgrade. I ...

Re: Dobyn's Fury vs. 13 Fishing Omen 2 Casting
I haven't fished the gen 2 Omens but I do have two gen 1 Omens. One is 7'1 medium and the other is 7'1 medium heavy. I also received a 733c Fury for an early Christmas present and have used it 3-4 trips so far. I've fished 3/8 jigs with all 3 paired up with Daiwa Tatula type r reels. For me, the Fur...

Re: DX703 or DX704?
How is the sensitivity on the DX? Just want to make sure I'm not going to be left wanting more.

Re: DX703 or DX704?
Sounds like a 704 it is. I'm sure the NRX is a more sensitive stick but how will the DX compare to say the GLX or IMX in sensitivity?

DX703 or DX704?
I plan on using it for 3/8 jigs and skipping docks. Got a 733 Fury for Christmas and like it a lot. This is my first experience with a Dobyns and plan on adding more. Just wondering if the 704 or 744 would be a better option for jigs? I took my Fury out yesterday and it did just fine and I really li...

Re: Line Twist?
All of the above. Just make sure you aren't using too small of a spool and too big of line is the only thing I would add. I'm using 7lb Gamma Touch on a 1500 size Fuego A. Anything much bigger on that size reel and it's a nightmare.

Re: 13 Fishing Rods
I only have experience with the Omen series from 13 Fishing. They seem to fish about 1/2 power heavier than the rating, just my opinion. I can fish a 3/8 jig on the medium power 7'1 rod with confidence. Medium heavy in the same length has even more backbone. Similar to St. Croix in their power ratin...

Re: Dobyns Champion Extreme HP video = new DX rods
I've been looking for a new jig rod. Was looking at the Loomis lineup in the GLX or NRX but definitely going to have to take a peek at these.

Winter fishing
I'm looking for some advice. Me and a buddy fish highland reservoirs that are pretty clear (5-10 feet of visibility) and catch pretty decent number of fish most of the year. Once the water gets in that 45 degree range it's like the Dead Sea. Our lakes primarily have spotted bass and few largemouth. ...
