Re: Shimano BFS oil
Thanks mate, will look into the TSI oil. Good to see there are other Aussie BFS tackle junkies out there! TSI 321 is a lubricant and TSI 320 is a solvent. You want the lubricant. I was using TSI 321 on worm gears and I thought that it was maybe a little bit too thin for that application so I starte...

Re: Ultralight Topwater
Aliexpress has a few. The ones on the left and middle are all topwater. The bottom poppers are probably 1g (or maybe even less) https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/0y04PKN3qwZNQwwpICoq2IA2Npy7B6qbsYZo3m-7aRnyGv_zV_t7Cx3RJB8SXD24pY5Sne9T_M2nl3kE8DGNNnUYUS7X3DFrMf5YwVtrmro-ErVqfML3pV6oESNNjAQf3FWteH6ZPe...

Re: Lightest and least viscous bearing oil for BFS reels?
You might also want to try the Deuthlon cast lube. I've used TSI and the HH Alchemy ultra light before and this one outperforms both in terms of casting performance. In terms of corrosion protection and longevity, I cannot tell. I've been using for less than a month and have been fishing in fresh cl...

Avail vs AMO vs RORO spools for Conquest BFS
Anybody did a performance comparison among the 3? The RORO is the cheapest but is no longer available. Based on the specs the RORO has the same construction (and depth at 1.5mm) with the Avail 17CNQ29R and is heavily ported. The AMO spool has a honycomb design and a shorter shaft (there is an extens...

Re: $$$ UL braid? Thoughts ....
The Power Pro S8S is also an 8 carrier braid but I think the lowest is at 8lbs, you can try this one if you don't want to spend too much $. This is what I use on my Aldebaran BFS. Daiwa and Sufix also have 8 carrier braids. I get tip wraps only when I bring my lure up like before a cast, but I've ne...

Re: Newbie Shimarno 16 Aldebaran BFS - Quick Questions
Yes, it's the HH BFS Air. But I replaced only the one in the sideplate. I am using an avail spool that already came with a HH bearing. For grease, I use Cal's in the drags and just Superlube in the gears. If you clean/inspect your reels regularly (like at least every couple of months) I don't think ...

Re: 1st time. BFS Aldebaran: Quick braid vs fluro question
I don't know how much difference it would make switching over from braid to fluoro, but I can tell you that there was a big difference casting 1~2g lures from using 8lbs SS8 PP to 2lb Nanofil. The weight of the line affected the tiny lures a whole lot.

Re: Newbie Shimarno 16 Aldebaran BFS - Quick Questions
That sounds like it braked too soon. Could your cast control be too tight? Or could there be grease in the spool bearings? I kinda remember that the stock Shimano spool bearings had grease in them, but am not totally sure. I wouldn't be surprised if the stock spool spun longer because it is heavier....

Re: Newbie Shimarno 16 Aldebaran BFS - Quick Questions
Also, If you are planning to change the bearing on the Avail spool, please note that it has a different sized bearing than the one on the stock spool. I didn't change mine. The measurements can be found on the product page of the spool on the hedgehog studio site.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Re: Newbie Shimarno 16 Aldebaran BFS - Quick Questions
1. The green and blue bottled oils are Shimano's BFS (light) oil and regular oil (I think they call it the Bantam oil?) respectively. I don't use them, I prefer the Hedgehog Alchemy Ultra Light or TSI 321. It makes a huge difference casting lures weighing <2 grams. 2.The magnet with an 'N' is an opt...

Re: 1-3g hard baits
The top poppers in the middle are the heaviest in the pic at 2g and the smaller poppers also in the middle are the lightest at probably less than 1g. All from AE. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/TaTPonj09FKj5WTbNW1IRbMwNPp_hAjrDjqkWAKXecbuhAtxAYAYQcKt6RTUocoZ-g9M6OnXuCE6C5mc-XmTisA73-tQiZtQMpcTW6t...
