Kistler Helium 3 Medium vs ML Spinning

I am looking for a new spinning rod and I’ve always enjoyed my Kistler baitcaster rods. I am looking at the 7’ Helium 3 medium and medium light. Do you have a preference over the other? I don’t have a local shop that carries them to go feel them for myself. I am afraid the ML may be a little too lim...

Re: Dobyns 804c or Dobyns 795 mlsb for alabama rigs?

I've never used the 804 so I can't help you there, but I do own and use the 795ML for A-Rigs. It's a great rod with a soft enough tip for long casts, but it has good backbone to get a good hookset on those long casts. I have yet to fish a better A-Rig rod than the 795ML. The action is perfect for it...

Re: Duckett Micro Magic

I'm looking to get a MH casting rod for 10-17 lb line and 1/4 - 3/4 lure weight. I'm thinking about the Duckett Micro Magic but Duckett does not list line or lure weights for their rods. I would be getting either a 7' M or MH. Does anyone know which one of those fishes like a classic MH rod? Micro ...

Re: Powell DIESELS... am I alone?

I'd like fill in my rod lineup with some Diesels - will Tackle Tour EVER stoop to a review of these ultra-budget rods? None of you seem to be too interested in these rods - so I am assuming they are junk and I should stick to my vendettas? Warranties are not an issue for me. I take care of my gear ...

Never mind. I got my answer. It'd have to be a special paint and it'd cost too much for my liking.

Re-painting a Hudd

Has anyone ever tried to repaint a Hudd, specifically the Albino color? If so, how hard is it to paint over the already white color? I'm looking to start throwing the Hudd on Guntersville this year, but we don't have trout in the lake - so I wanted to possibly paint it a color that I know would work...

Re: Duckett White Ice

had the 7'3 mh and it was okay, lots of backbone and descent build but the rod lacked sensitivity. i also didn't like the super small micro's! the micro's on my zbone are double the size. Interesting. The micro magic rods are the complete opposite of what you just described. Little to no backbone a...

Re: Better jig rod, Zillion or Cumara?

Zillion. Both are just about equally as sensitive as the other, but I like that the Zillion lineup has a true heavy power, where as the new Cumara lineup doesn't.

Re: KLX... don't be shy

Thanks flipperjig, Buck2thPerch, njbasscat. Don't really want want to hijack this thread, but what's the best power for 3/8-1/2 (plus trailers) jigs? I'll be using it to fish "deep" (20-25ft), as well as fishing wood and rock cover in about 5-10ft. I use a Zbone LE 5 power heavy rod for 3/8 to 3/4 ...

Re: KLX... don't be shy

Does anyone care to take the time to explain the actions on these rods for me? I own a few Kistler LTA's that are fast action, but when I see their jig rod say "Moderately-Fast" it kind of steers me away from them. Does the rod just have more of a parabolic bend to it?

Re: Quantum KVD Tour 7'2" Spinnerbait Rod replacement ideas?

So should i try a 735? or 736? I also have a Powell 735 frod rod, but that seems way to stiff for spinnerbaits, maybe because it is geared for froggin? I have both the Powell 735 and Dobyns 735 - they fish differently. The Powell is a much stiffer rod than the Dobyns. The Powell is my frog rod and ...

Re: New Cumara "Screw up"

Despite the smaller grip and the opposite of "normal" reel seat locking mechanism on the new Cumara, I find the casting rods very comfortable to fish. I like the reel seat and the ease with which a finger can be placed on the blank above the foregrip. I haven't had any issues with the reel seat com...

Re: Low Proflie A-rig Reel

Anyone use a lews tournament pro for a-rigs thinking about trying one? Thoughts Thanks Ryan I haven't used any of my Lew Tournament Pro reels for an A-Rig, but I am currently using two different Revo SX (Gen 2) and I don't have any complaints. I have a Daiwa Lexa 300 on the way specifically to use ...

You sound like me as I'm still looking for that perfect 3/8-1/2oz jig rod.
