Re: Living up to the Hype? The Zero Ball Bearing Concept Z from 13 Fishing
The tolerance of the ID looks off. Is that what is causing the rattling during the cast? http://www.tackletour.com/images18/pic13fishingconceptzreel30.jpg The tolerances of the spool bushings are not exact. There is a bit of wiggle room. Clearly visible to the naked eye. And you can feel it. Same c...

Re: Shimano's Fully Machined BFS Masterpiece
I'm surprised you didn't mention the clicky drag..... I've found it to be a spectacular feature. You can really dial in how much pressure your putting on light line by the feel. The sound isn't all that important but you can feel the detents on the drag as you wind against the drag. Which is an incr...

Re: A Prop Bait Not for Spying but Topwater! The X-Plose Topwater by Megabass
I found it interesting you mention the line will foul on the prop or head hook. I have multiples of every single spybait make and model made up until last year And the megabass flat out is a joke. more than 3/4s of the casts foul no matter what line/ leader combination. Rod action or how you allow i...

Re: Making a Power Play, the Shimano Tranx Baitcaster
I'm shocked you found the tranx to be less refined. I found that even after 1000lbs of fish on it. And both reels serviced and lubed with Krytox. That the Tranx felt as refined as a Metanium...And almost as refined as an antares (close but not quite) I've got both the MET and the TRX and my experie...

Re: Making a Power Play, the Shimano Tranx Baitcaster
No offense taken at all and always appreciate the feedback. Sealed systems are definitely more common on spinning reels, especially those employed in surf environments. For this particular article the focus really was on big bait applications and freshwater, something that I stated throughout the t...

Re: Making a Power Play, the Shimano Tranx Baitcaster
Hi ScoobyDoo, Thanks for your post and comments. In the review I spoke at length to the durability of the reel and also how it is able to be used in both freshwater and saltwater environments as well as use as a charter reel, which further speaks to the ability of the Tranx to holdup to the element...

Re: Making a Power Play, the Shimano Tranx Baitcaster
I'm shocked that you took the reel apart and didn't once mention all the seals. That is one of the biggest innovations to hit baitcasters yet. I wonder if your reel had an issue. As the revo toro beast is isn't a very refined reel. The use of c clips to anchor the the main gear allows for a bit of s...

Black oxide coated aluminum. Feels lighter than chromed brass or stainless.
Similar to the coating on the older "paladin" gears.
Almite
Tuffram
Very good quality.
I scratched the end stud to make sure it wasn't plastic

Re: Product Insight : Zillion TWS a.k.a. Tatula Z?
I generally look at the reviews here for pictures...I mean....cmon...how do you not have a proper size torx to open a reel :)..this was imho your best to date. No pulling of any punches.....while not torn down to frame showed all the guts. And stated made the statement that the zill is just an overp...

Re: The Mother of All Tackle Autopsies ...
Wow...just... WOW....Nothing special about this 400$ hunk of fire wood. Simple and cheap screw in hangers....Nothing better than what is offered by any striped bass plug builder at 40$....aside from added board feet...lol.
Cool to see though.

Re: Son of a Mother, the Roman Made Negotiator Swimbait
I thought he caught the biwa record on a roman made...but tied the WR on a live bait chummed, live lined bluegill??????
Note......... the only thing I know about the tied record was read in a free magazine I got from tacklewarehouse...They had an interview with the guy.
