Re: Peeling it Back - The BFS Shallow Spool Challenge

Interesting article. I know that had to be very tedious to collect all the data.

Re: Inshore reel for 7M Expire glass

I have used the Chronarch G and I am very happy with it. I have also used the Curado MGL and have been impressed with its performance at a lower price point.

Re: Yak help... Questions

I have a PA14 and have no experience with this boat, but Blue Sky Boatworks is a pontoon style peddle drive boat.

Re: Chronarch G sideplate

Thank you for the response Bantam. I have had no issues with my other G's. They have been flawless. This one was a surprise, since it is brand new and hadn't seen the water.

Re: Chronarch G sideplate

Cast control is loose, still wouldn't budge. I will try soaking it in warm water to see if that will help. Reel is brand new. All I have done is spool line on the reel. Maybe Bantam will have an answer. J.B. what reel did you switch up to. I love the Chronarch G's. Up to this point have had no issue...

Chronarch G sideplate

I have 5 Chronarch G's. But, one is brand new and I can't get the sideplate to open. I had seen some suggestions to run how water over the reel. Tried that unsucessfully. Any other suggestions to try?

Re: Topwater Walking Bait Rod

Dobyns 705cb will work for that range of lures. Not perfectly, but acceptably.

Re: Rod broken on arrival

Just had the same thing happen as well. I also bought the rod from American Legacy. The were great. Shipping me a replacement and sent a return label for the broken rod. I don't think you will have any issues with ALF

Re: Used curado DC in salt

Here is a link to Shimano North America showing how to clean the reel after saltwater use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIwZ3g8yRhU&t=47s

I think you could by doing less, unless as mentioned you dunked it.

Re: Aldebaran 50 MGL

I am pretty sure the MGL spools are not recommended for saltwater. It may not be high end enough, but I have been pleased with my Chronarch G fishing the salt.

Re: top water rod for 1 oz +/- baits

I used a Loomis 847CBR in E6X for full size spooks and was very pleased with the rod for that. Another suggestion if you need a longer rod is the Dobyns 794SB. That is a very interesting rod and should be capable of launching the lures a long distance.

Re: Favorite type of topwater bait?

My vote is for the spook/sammy style bait. I like the explosive strikes you get on any topwater, but walking the dog with short or long pauses, trying to figure out a cadence that will make fish react on any particular day is what makes those the most fun, to me anyway.

Well said. X2
