Re: Fuji PULS Palm Support Reel Seat

The extra size and weight of the insert is an issue for some. I love the PULS seat, but it does need to come in more sizes that prevent having to use the insert. You would think that Fuji would make more sizes because the seats are very cheap and easy to make. As far as the PB701MHF, the tip is muc...

Re: Fuji PULS Palm Support Reel Seat

I believe they are similar, but those td-s seats look like they sit the reel lower on the blank. I tried the PULS with the recommendation from toddmc, but I'm not sure how I feel about them just yet. I think part of it has to do with the blank I put it on, a Point Blank PB701MHF. The blank fishes a...

Re: Fuji PULS Palm Support Reel Seat

Those Daiwa seats were comfortable. I have never owned one, but I think they are similar based on my handling a few of them many years back. I've had three rods built with this seat, and I really like it.

Re: BFS in the bay

I went to UC Irvine from 1988-93 and lived in Newport Beach. We had a core group of various young local tackle shop employees that spent a lot of nights fishing in Newport Harbor for spotted bay bass. This was when the original swimbait, the Wormking, was hot. We threw the Wormking's and small grubs...

I snagged a giant pair of underwear at a local reservoir, not sure how the women lost them since they could have
netted a whale...
You should have saved them as a replacement net, in case yours gets a hole in it. If they can hold her, they can hold a true giant! :D

Re: Bass Fishing Bycatches

Lake Alamo is a small Arizona lake in the middle of nowhere. It was famous for 100 fish days in the 80's. The 4" ringworm was the overwhelming bait of choice there during that time. I fished my first club tournament there in 1988. I broke off a nice fish on a a rock pile fishing a motor oil with ch...

I'm not afraid to hook-up with the skinny girls either. This post-spawn girl looked to be fairly fresh off of a long visit on the dance floor, or else she would have been a bit bigger!

Re: Z Man Chatterbait Micro trailer?

There are two problems with the Micro and the Mini that cause them to not vibrate very well. First, the snap is too large. Try a smaller egg snap (size 1) or duo lock snap. Second, the factory skirt is too large, and the connected umbrella style strands cause too much drag. I hand tie 20-25 strands ...

haha. good catch. thank god you didnt say red sox... My 10 year-old's little league team is the Red Sox. He pitches, and he got crushed by the Yankees for seven runs over the first two innings last night. I am still a little bitter, but I could never be a Red Sox fan for them beating the Dodgers la...

A couple of spool cases that I made using Daiwa spinning reel cases. Inspiration from ZPI Mg spool boxes.

Re: Rod Balance

The simple answer is to balance a tip up presentation setup, and not to balance a reaction bait/tip down presentation rod. Your hookset will be faster when a tip up presentation setup is balanced. All of your muscles will feel less fatigued over a long day when fishing bottom contact baits with a li...

Re: Strike King Thunder Cricket

The 3D eyes are totally unnecessary. The fish have a lot more time to look at a jig, yet most jigs don't have them? Hello? Also, rock will destroy the eyes in a hurry. You can tie a factory skirt with braid, wire, or a zip tie in about 10 seconds. The blade is the big question mark? It will be inter...

Re: Who is the MOST over rated ?

The NRX rods have always been a joke to me. Way too many are built poorly. Many models are very tip heavy. Don't forget the quality control issues and the poor cork. I often wonder about the world's sanity when it comes to the NRX. Are people really so anxious for status that they are willing to thr...
