Re: lines for bfs setups

Interesting. You got me curious. So I weighed four TM jigheads and realized that they vary in weight. With bodies. the four I weight range from .90 gram to 1.08 gram. So I assume it is possible that some of the jigheads are even lighter than that. .8875 grams would be exactly 1/32 oz. So the .90 gra...

Re: Observations 1 year of use of ester line.

Alphahawk, Have you thought of using the Tict 69D (Drift) with the Ester for the buffalo fish? I've always thought that in an ideal work, when using UL lines (say 2 lbs), the line need to match the rod by having opposite characteristics. If the rod is very fast and have relatively good backbone, the...

UL BFS Rod Builders: Do you Spiral the guides?

I'm itching to get around to building a BFS rod...though I've not quite gotton my BFS reel yet.... Question for those of you who build rods or have your rods built: Do you spiral your BFS rods? And if you do, what style of spiral do you use? Have you actually experienced any advantages to spir...

Re: lines for bfs setups

NTSD, If you actually weigh the trout magnet, it is actually a bit heavier than 1/32. They advertise it as 1/64 but it is double that weight. Just FYI.

1/64 would be 0.44 grams. TM is easily over 1 gram. Some have measured 1.2 grams.

Re: Stuck 2 Piece Rod

Love to hear your comments about the Abu Eradicator Realfinesse rod. That's one of the more interesting JDM rods.

Re: Bubble fishing for trout

If you are looking for JDM around 7' 6", I think you can't beat the Olympic 2018 Corto in 7' 4". I just sold one but can vouch that it is top bang for the buck, made in Japan. Problem is that a lot of 18 Cortos are selling with some dealers.

Re: Best braid to fluoro connection knot?

Which leads to two questions:

1. Anyone using 2 or 3 lbs fluoro/mono use the FG knot?

2. And can such FG know pass through size 3.0 guides just fine? We are talking tiny tiny guides, but they are still a lot larger than the FG know.

Thanks.

Re: Olympic Graphitelader Rods

Have four UL so far in hand to examine. I have looked at A LOT of blanks as someone who enjous building rods. My opinion is that their blanks are superb - very high strength to weight ratio. Agree that they don't bling it up which I appreciate. One of the Cortos are made in Japan and the components ...

UL BFS Rod Lengths - please suggest

Greetings All, I've been absolutely fascinated by the whole BFS for UL jigs - down to about 1.2 grams or less. So I'm thinking of building a rod as I have a bunch of UL blanks from sub 5' to my longest single piece 8' blanks. So I have a question. Why is it that most of you with BFS seem to prefer s...

Re: 2017 Finezza Prototype

Thanks. Love to see how this compare to the 2018 Corto, side by side. My guess is more similar than different compared to other rods but this is pure conjecture. I do still feel that the 18 Cortos may be among the best value - they are the lowest cost made in Japan Olympics and also the lightest tot...

Re: Recommend a rod to go with my Aldebaran BFS

Apparently your first post here? Welcome. A few thread down, there's one titled "Smith Be Sticky Trout" You can probably start there. I don't own a BFS or anything baitcasting - and I know 1/100th of the guys on this forum. But I'll say thatwhat to recommend depends in part on what you are...
