Re: Phenix Ultra MBX rods
I have the 7' Light power. Fantastic rod for smaller jerkbaits and micro jigs/shaky heads.

Re: Anyone use Megabass Orochi Destruction 70
I use mine specifically for 1 to 2 oz swimbaits. Imo it's perfect for that. Been really loving the new savage gear pulse tail on this rod.

Re: Dream baitcaster
I would say a z2020 but 1016 sized. That reel is IMO their greatest reel produced

Re: BFS Blanks for T Rig?
I just had a custom done on a Phenix Elixir blank and its perfect for 3" senkos and small texas rigs. Using 4lb CXX and its pretty dang sensitive.

Re: Better than the average travel rod?
I just ordered a Daiwa Air Edge Mobile as I was in the same boat and wanted a travel BFS-ish rod. Should pair nicely with my SV Light LTD. I think I might try the 6'3 Poison Adrena 2 piece next for my around town rod.

Re: Need a rod for a new-2-me reel. Budget increased.
I have the Phenix UMBX 700L casting and it honestly fishes between a L and ML. Its a damn good shallow crank rod for me and also double for shaky head fishing. Absolutely love this rod.

Re: Rays studio inductor plus a type r inductor spring on sv spool
My only gripe about the Ray's is that that excellent distance tuned inductor is better suited to the kind of baits that I want a little more capacity with. Their spools are so shallow that they don't hold enough 20# braid for Ned rigs or 1/4 oz cranks. At the same time they are not that good for UL...

Re: Compact Jigs
I regularly fish Riot Baits Minima Jigs. Awesome full weight small profile Flippin jig. Have you tried stroking a compact jig? I think I’ll try that. I know most people do it with a heavy jig but why not right ? I really fish cover mostly, have never tried stroking a jig period. Don't really drag t...

Re: G1 1016 Spool
Is this an SV spool? If so then this is normal. They are meant to be run with zero spool tension and even a tiny bit of side to side play. It is an sv spool. I originally had the sv103 spool in it and with the spool tension all the way off and brakes on 0 I couldn't backlash it if I tried. That sam...

G1 1016 Spool
I recently picked up a G1 1016 spool for an OG steez. I'm not sure if something else is going on but this spool feels very choked when trying to freespool, even with ceramic bearings. Do these spools behave differently in the newer reels or is this normal?
