Re: Bass Fishing Bycatches

I've also snagged an previously broken off fish - smallie. Jerkbait got tangled up in the leader that was attached to a hook - still in her mouth. Watched my father in law quickly pull his jerkbait up from one side of the boat, turn around and quickly dump it back in the water on the opposite side o...

Hey Gary that's part of my question. I've bought many rods from you but when you say JDM from Daiwa what rods are those? Is that the RD and compile x?

Re: Daiwa Steez Rods

Can't go wrong with a JDM Steez. There are definitely some standouts, as with any rod line. Most of them are somewhat presentation specific, but there are some versa sticks in the lineup. People seem to really like them. Well appointed, and very fishable. I think Daiwa has done a good job with the d...

Re: Super tough bite! Help

Try a finesse worm wacky rigged. Something with greater natural action than a Senko, such as flick shake or similar worm. Try a 1/8 oz wacky head. Like Tim said, be patient. Add a small nail weight if absolutely necessary. I like to add a willow blade or skirt to one end of the worm for added appeal...

Re: Millionaire CT SV

No, I haven’t worked on the spring or ramp as I have limited experience with it. I consider using the reel for the pike and perch where lures are heavier - plus maybe having the spool less filled with line may help. SV tech can be inconsistent at times. Inductor ramp swap and stronger spring can of...

Re: Millionaire CT SV

I have made some comments on the reel in the 19 steez ct thread, which by now is 21 pages long. I do not like the reel much. Some plusses: It is good looking and pleasent to palm. It is also very smooth. I would expect this in a high end Daiwa. When (my) casting goes well, especially with 5g plus l...

Re: Millionaire CT SV

Can you take the spacers out, change the worm shaft, and use a regular spool? Might be worth it to get one and sell those parts off to someone who wants that tiny spool... I know a guy who removed the spacers from an Alphas CT 70, just to remove the orange color. The rest of your questions I have n...

I've only broken one Megabass out of about the twenty or so I've had and still currently have. It was an older generation Destroyer F1-60X, I still have it. It's now used to spool reels so all was not lost. ;)

Just picked up a new 6'11" and used it this past weeknd. Very nice rod overall and appers to be very versatile. I'm hoping the blank is not too stiff for throwing 110's and pointer 100's.

Re: So who bought the ZPI Alcance?

Just shy of a full blown train wreck is what the first one was. A guide friend from Florida bought one to check out. Upon receiving the reel he notices the line guide would not travel. It was sent to me, and the pictures tell the story. Missing parts, under lubed, hot sauce grease, not even ZPI bea...

Re: SV103XS Spool Upgrades but what next

I have two. One with the dimpled SV103 Steez limited spools, the other with the dimpled Steez SV105 limited spools. I went through testing numerous spools in this reel, and this is where I landed. Aside from that, and some different parts, I don't think the reel needs anything else. Spool bearings, ...

Looks like TT have one in testing now.
I noticed that too, in the YGK fluoro review.
