Re: shimano oem bearings
I order the spool bearings from the Chronarch 50mg for my reels. They are unshielded ARBs so they are easier to clean and relube. Flushed and with TSI applied, these bearings are really fast and cast as good as Boca 7s. Thanks a lot for that suggestion! I did notice when I cleaned my 50mg last week...

shimano oem bearings
I'm just starting out with reel maintenance although I've been fishing all my life. After flushing spool bearings on about 20 curados (E,B,&G) I need 5 new sets. After reading the bearing discussion I'm gonna order some Chinese orange seals but am putting in a shimano parts order and was also going ...

ARB fix chronarch
I bought 2 chronarch 50mg's for 200. One of them has a clutch roller bearing that fails occasionally. Is there a way to fix the bearing? Just figured id try that before ordering the new bearing for $11

Re: Shimano Deep Cranking reel
A side note on gear ratios, Keith combs cranks with a 7:1 low pro shimano. One of the best crank bait fishermen alive today. Also uses a 7 foot rod. Go figure!

Re: complete teardown shimano low pro
Last night I took apart a curado G that had never been opened before. That gave me a pretty good idea of what to grease. There was a VERY light coat on the idle gears. Was surprised that there was grease on the bearings. Perhaps they were oiled and while fishing grease found its way on top of the be...

complete teardown shimano low pro
I have gotten into doing my own reel maintenence this winter after at least 3 attempts over the years of having someone else clean my reels and having mediocre to very bad results. After looking at a pile of cu200s, bantam chronarchs, and 200e7's I decided to clean/fix them myself. After watching an...

Re: in depth freshwater reel cleaning
I'm going to get some of that simple green. I did use denatured alcohol. In an article on bassmaster.com they interview a shimano guy who says to dab a q tip in isopropyl to clean the the spool races on the reel frame. What type of solution do you use in an ultrasonic cleaner if any?

in depth freshwater reel cleaning
I've done a lot of research on reel maintenence. just wondering what people use to clean the gears (main, worm, and pinion) on a low pro bait caster. I have several older curados in good shape but broke them down and the drive shaft and gear cluster are covered in old grease. I think when I had them...
