Re: Do you like ABU reels?

You know they only do them every 20 or 25 years or so to keep the exclusivity to them.

Re: Titanium Framed reels?

OMG... What are you? Part-time ''naysayer"? Half-nay? Half-sayer? Meh I like what I like, I tell what I see and happily agree to disagree even with "engineers" - I just tell it how it is, don't sit on your hands or hold back on what you feel... A lot of people hate the truth... When people tell you...

Re: Do you like ABU reels?

Yes, only their round offerings and only before the Pure Fishing takeover.

I've got a few other 1500C & 2500C in storage. Wish I could get them tuned by some of these Japanese blokes I have on my IG...

To be fair non of his stuff is "off the shelf" - tools made to suit individual technique.

Re: Titanium Framed reels?

With the firearm build it seems that the rails are embodied deeply and into the FRN* plastic while it's injection moulded around it to make it as secure as possible and whatever parts are attached to it as the rest. Cycling heat through the barrel and the like and how much is absorbed into the grip ...

Well at least now you won't be burnt by a metal clutch return leg if you ever leave it out in the sun...
Haha! Now I dont want any of them Shimano people knocking on Doyo!
I still wouldn't buy Doyo. But then again I wouldn't buy a reel with a plastic clutch return leg either.

Re: Titanium Framed reels?

Just picked up a near new Curado I-PG, worm gear sounds scratchy and as mentioned full of dust, silt / sand. Will be onto that soon, clean it all up and to the shelf it goes.

Re: Titanium Framed reels?

Polyamide with reinforcing has been done to death. I mean most references to guns and all that yep agree, I think those applications where it stays true due to being bolted to and around a metallic object being the receiver body and the barrel etc (excuse my illiteracy with guns as Australia has a g...

Re: Titanium Framed reels?

in all seriousness the titanium reel would be a small market i really don't see a manufacturer being profitable on making one although it would be very cool indeed. Just imagine the tooling required and the finishing they'd need to get right for everything to fit. A super alloy like TiAl could work...

Or all the old Nazi's with the know how died out.

They can remake the old specs without trouble - it's just the push for this new stuff to stay relevant.

Re: Titanium Framed reels?

They can print in metal including Ti, but let's be fair it's totally unnecessary and the reels parts wouldn't last long enough to warrant their manufacturing and future benefits in parts and all that, let alone the cost and popularity of the reel. Or even 3D CNC but yeh too exxy. Titanium alloys tha...

Shimano Magnumlite Graphite Med/light action rod ML 1551. The reel was a Bantam Magnumlite Plus (2001) , gear ratio is 5.1:1. I still have 5 of the reels & 2 of the rods.
