Re: Worm gear issue in twinpower

You want to tighten it up without binding the associated parts up. There will be a level of shaft slop remaining due to the difference in the worm pawl housing between A) pawl shaft and ID of bearing B) OD of bering and pawl bearing housing. Then the pawl irself that fits in the worm track there is ...

Re: worm shaft lube

Spinning reels grease and a few dots of oil in the tracks to thin the grease a little. Baitcasters agreed with oil, it burns off quickly enough however replaced easily and doesnt attract dirt. Ive heard of people using Rock and Roll bike chain lubes which dry out but leave a waxy Teflon fortified co...

Re: Worm gear issue in twinpower

Could possibly do with shim washers in the worm drive and in the pawl to tighten it all up, reduce slop with all the parts. Check the wind when doing this. Facing upward Horizontal wind Spool facing downward Also tighten the drag and pull and push on the spool and see how much slop in the shaft ther...

Re: Daiwa BG2500 handle knob...replaceable?

I've only heard that they're riveted on. Daiwa parts list states "handle assembly".

Shimano was the same on some reels, however where serviceable but only sold as a whole replaced part.

Drill the shaft out and use a Ray's Studio shaft kit, which'll allow either Shimano or Daiwa knobs.

Re: Why doesn't Daiwa face the TWS grooving issue?(with pics)

Well I just bought my first Daiwa BC - a Tatula CT 100P... A Shimano baitcaster owner through and through, however a quick dabble into the unknown is always good. After all the reading I've done with the Titanium Dioxide coating I am feeling quite assured that it should'nt occur after the initial ba...

Re: Who does spool repair?

Have you checked the side plate friction plates for wear and tear? Also the ends of the spool itself they're still smooth and not worn?

Re: Shimano oil port

I'm curious to see how other people's "Hagne" reels are performing for them. Kurt They're going well enough - however the core protect physical seals are quite a joke in the great scheme of things. I have done quite a few drowned FK's and or even the FB Ci4+ as they're starting to become reasonably...

Re: Who does spool repair?

The silver collar on the LH side which moves and is under spring tension for the magnetic cast control system.

Is that what is floppy and not where it should be - should be stable when spool wobbled side to side, and when gently pulled should be under tension.

Re: Shimano oil port

Back in the day the service oil port was on the opposite side of the main drive gear face. This allowed either grease or oil to be applied to the pinion and or main gear if you had a pin point greaser tip handy. Made most of the reels inner workings quiet accessible and free to view. Then they went ...

Re: Ordering from Japan price

Never an issue with eBay ordering rods or reels when i order from Japan to Australia. The price is the final price inc post when you set up your ebay right. Ive looked into the other buying platforms and the fees and taxes were mind boggling, great buys but in the end too risky for me in the end. Se...

Re: Will TWS continue to evolve to smaller reels?

That being said, I have no idea what material is used on the line guide of a baitcast reel. Anyone know? Most are some form of zircon or silimar guide material. I have seen some that are / have become abrasive over time. The gold looking ones with have a form of Titanium Nitrite coating over a base...
