Re: NANOFIL HATERS

I'm surprised you don't built a "ramp" to ease the fluro leader back in thru the tip guide. I use 20-25 fluro and with the combination of trimming the mono tag end completely flush and a small "ramp" which is nothing but a series of half hitches or a 4 loop reverse uni on just the Nanofil itself, I ...

Re: NANOFIL HATERS

So that's the reason for the alternating half hitches. Never could figure why since I know it doesn't affect knot strength. Good finish half hitches but I think he forgot to glove tighten after the first half hitches. It looks prettier in the video but I don't trust the FG knot in Nanofil unless it'...

Re: NANOFIL HATERS

To confirm that the uni knot just does not work very well with Nanofil, I did a quick test. Double uni knot where the Nanofil is folded over before tying the uni knot: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/aquaholik/2016-03-12%2013.31.53_zpsovwseyk3.png Knot looks good, no fraying. Tied the Trilene...

Re: NANOFIL HATERS

Normally I can just tie the Sebile/FG knot using only two hands. But when I stepped down to try Nanofil 10 lbs on Trilene XL 10lbs, I had to resort to other method of tying the FG knot, mainly holding the Nanofil tight with my teeth and weave the mono around the braid, instead of just holding the mo...

Re: NANOFIL HATERS

That's impressive. Here's 12 to 14 and 14 to 14. It took at least 24 turns and it's about an inch long. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/aquaholik/20160312_083305_zps0u20zzte.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/aquaholik/20160312_083606_zpsodnu4oak.jpg Issue is on brand new line. Re: Gliss - What do you think?

Gliss has issue at the factory. They need to label their line correctly. Got a 1500 meters spool of 24lbs Gliss this morning and it is clearly thinner than the white 24 lbs Gliss that I got earlier. Testing with FG knot and I got 15.8 lbs, clearly an 18lbs line. Remember the white Gliss 24 lbs has a...

Re: stradic fk question

Put away the Stradic FK 3000 for now since I want to test the felt washers on the new Stradic 4000 FK. This is a JDM model with the 4.8 to 1 gear ratio. First thing I did was upgraded the bushing on the spool support with a bearing to help smooth-en the drag under heavy load. Couldn't decide on 10lb...

Re: NANOFIL HATERS

Gliss is still an open water line for me. I use Gliss 24 lbs and it's true ABS is no where near 24 lbs. With FG knot you get 17-19 lbs depending on the batch. After it wears down(Nanofil also wears down quick), you are looking at around 14-15 lbs, too fragile to put 5lbs of drag on and horse the fis...

Re: Daiwa J-Braid???

Alright here's what I got for J Braid KBS(knot breaking strength) using FG knot to 40 lb leader and either using spring scale or real weights. I'm loving the 10lbs. Way stronger than Samurai 18lbs and maybe just a tiny bit thicker. It's thinner than all USA 10lbs braid so I didn't expect more than 1...

Disassembling a Stella SW over a sink and running water pressure over the reel parts over the sink: Confidence Level - Pro Looks like it works great for getting sands and tiny grits out of exposed screws. But like you said, you better know your reel's inside before you start pressure washing since t...

Re: Shimano Stradic ci4+ handle play????

Maybe I'll just hold off and get this reel instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_E_4fRXLppQ Let me know what you guys think! Might have to wait a while. Loops sharp like a Stradic FK in Ci4 body. Should have seals similar to the FK. I like the Stradic FK, best Stradic yet except for the weak fe...

Re: Shimano Stradic ci4+ handle play????

You should exchange your reel if possible. Shimming the gears is not as simple as it sounds. You need an assortment of shims and calipers to measure the shims to figure out which size to use. Yeah, best route. It can be intimidating opening one up for the first time, but they are very similar after...
