Re: Airrus Ultra xl
Kbook- How does the action of the rod compare. I've always liked my co-matrix for its flexible tip yet retained sensitivity. Also, have you tried fishing with the insert on the rod? Does it feel solid- like a 1pc 7-3 rod? The weights you list sound a bit high but relative to one another it says the ...

Re: Airrus Ultra xl
For those that own a Co-Matrix, can you compare the UXL to the Co-Matrix in terms of sensitivity, weight and action of the rod. I'd also be interested in a comparison to a Kistler LTA as well. It sounds like a great rod and I'm wondering how much better it might be than the the co-matrix I like so m...

Re: Looking for a Crank Bait Rod
John- I'm a strong believer that crankbait rods can help you hook more fish relative to some stiff fast action rods. I spent a season fishing crankbaits on what I later found out was a fast action rod and missed more fish then I'd missed the previous 5 years. As an experiement, I switched to a cheap...

Re: td advantage vrs curado
The Curado was my first baitcaster above $100 and got me hooked on Baitcasting gear. I grew up fishing spinning gear. I have a few of the more expensive Daiwa reels but can't get compare the Curado to an Advantage. The Curado to me is like a Camary. Performance is solid for most anything I do with i...

Re: Fuego vs MG50
ROG, Boone-
What makes you like the MG over the Fuego. Size, weight, something else?
I thought about going the braid route and tipping the end with p-line when I'm fishing around rocks. I find the braid cuts like butter when fishing plastics around rocks.

Re: Fuego vs MG50
Boone, Mark- thanks for the post. I was thinking the 15# PLine Floroclear might be a bit much for the MG given its spool capacity. It seems to work fine on the Fuego but agree that it is toward the maximum upper limit and may even be a bit much if fishing in 40 degree weather or colder. I notice tha...

Fuego vs MG50
Thinking of adding a new reel. I'm thinking another Fuego or trying out a Chronarch MG50. If I were to get the MG50, I'd mount it on my Loomis BCR803 and fish plastics with 14lb test and move my fuego to my spinnerbait rod. I can buy either one for the same price so neither has a cost advantage to m...

Re: new stradic FH rough under load?
I had the same problem with a 2500FH. Returned it for one I adore. Had another experience where I bought a Curado SF and over multiple months decided it did not throw any better than my regular Curado. I mentioned this to the dealer and he told me to return it. I did and it was defective as well. Th...

Re: Best reel for $60: Baitcasting
Have to agree. If you know what you want and you have a little time to spare, you can get reels costing 80 to 100 new for $75 or less new on E-bay. I don't have any recent experience with baitcasters less than $100. I will share that I never liked baitcasters until about 4-5 years ago. While on a gu...

Re: NEW LOOK ON AIRRUS WEB SITE
Should be a great rod. I look forward to your review. I wonder if Cabelas will be offering the Ultra XL? I just looked and don't see it on the Cabelas website and historically they have carried only the Co-Matrix. I hope its a hit and they start selling it. My preference is to get everything at Cabe...

Re: NEW LOOK ON AIRRUS WEB SITE
I can't wait to hear the reviews on the Ultra XL. I've pretty much decided to order a Helium but wanted to wait till the XL reviews were in before I made my final decision.
What model did you guys order?

Re: Berkley Vanish Fourocarbon for spinning reel
I tried both the Vanish and the stren equivalent 2 years ago as did my dad. Absolute dogs in my opinion. We both had line breaking in the spool with the baitcasters and breaking in numerous spots on the spinning reels. When it first happened to me alone, I thougth it was a one off caused by me. A mo...

Re: NEW TOYS!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
Boone, LR- Thanks! Sounds like the 7M might be a more flexible all purpose rod. Have you compared it to the 6'9 all purpose? If so, is there a reason you like the 7M better. Also, wondering if anyone owning both a Helium LTA and Airrus co-matrix could compare them from an action, strength and sensit...

Re: NEW TOYS!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
Boone, Very Nice! Any idea what the total weigth of each rig is? With the 50MG's, you must be around 10oz or less if a Kistler is less than 4oz. Do you fish most of your plastics on the Medium Kistlers? Do they have enough backbone to fish say a 1/2oz spinnerbait or Carolina rig? I'm thinking about ...
