Re: New Daiwa Steez A broke after second use...

Consider the Revo ALX. Metal frame, tiny size, under 6 oz weight. I've had mine for a couple of months and have been pleasantly surprised. It is an interesting choice. I have a Abu Revo Rocket. Good reel, but I dont feel it is up to the standard of a steez (of course it is half the price). So I am ...

Re: New Daiwa Steez A broke after second use...

1/4 to 1.5 oz is a pretty big range. 1 oz plus is a lot for the little MGXtreme 2... There are a few reviews out stating that they are HEAVILY finesse oriented reels. I think they are smaller frame wise than even the Alphas, so that would be tough. A Zillion SV TW might handle salt/inshore better t...

Re: New Daiwa Steez A broke after second use...

Ok, my model is not deliverable until August 30th. I do not want to wait that long for the replacement. So, I am considering other reels.  On the the list are: * Daiwa Steez SV TWS Casting Reels 7.1:1 * Metanium MGL 8.5:1 * Abu Garcia REVO MGXTREME2 8.0:1 I would like to use the reel for:  Topwater,...

Re: New Daiwa Steez A broke after second use...

I contacted TW and they told me that I should send it to them and they will exchange it. Great service! One of the reasons that I stick with them, even if I have to pay sales tax as a Cali boy! :) I would love to post the video here, but the format (I took with my phone) is not supported... It is t...

New Daiwa Steez A broke after second use...

Hi all, I bought a Daiwa Steez A TW Casting Reel 1016SHL on the 10th of May 2017 from Tackle Warehouse. After my 2nd outing with the reel two issues occurred with the reel. 1st: The pin that is adding to the stability of the reel got loose and eventually fell out. 2nd: The reel started making weird ...

Re: Daiwa Steez A TW vs Daiwa Steez SV TWS

Thanks all.

I went with the Steez A. It was the overall winner and I am happy so far with it.

Re: Recommendations

Hi,

I would like to throw in the Daiwa Steez Aluminium. I tested the Metanium as well, but did not like it because it did not feel as smooth and also the finish on it was not to the standard that I expected from such an expensive reel.

Daiwa Steez A TW vs Daiwa Steez SV TWS

Hi all, I am deciding between the two reels: * Daiwa Steez A TW Casting Reel  * Daiwa Steez SV TWS Casting Reels I would like to use the reel for some inshore fishing as well. The Aluminium one seems to be the choice here but I on this Japanese tackle website it seems like  this is also indicated fo...

Re: ALUMINUM Daiwa Steez vs Metanium MGL vs Conquest 100

So, I went into my backyard and tested the the Steez and the Conquest and compared them against my Antares and my Lew's Inshore BB2. All but the Antares where spooled with 15pound mono. Here is the essence of my testing: 1. The steez felt solid during retrieves, not much (if at all) play in the hand...

How about Ryoga? It's sturdy, smooth and have that sound also! 8-)

Hm, I prefer the Conquest over the Ryoga for a round reel. Though in this case, I think I am leaning towards the Steez.

Re: Damaged my all around rod, want to upgrade, what to do?

I narrowed it down to: St. Croix Legend Elite Casting Rod 6'8" Med Hvy (the Extremes just did not feel that comfortable and customer service of St.Croix said that the guides of the Elite are a bit more robust than the Extreme's) + I love the tip (just what I am looking for) + Handle has a good feel ...

Re: First Look Inside the New, all ALUMINUM Daiwa Steez A TW 1016 Baitcasting Reel

Got mine today and have already switched the handle out. I will get it out this weekend to play with it. This is my first Steez since I normally am a saltwater fisherman I could not use the magnesium version. I will say that so far the real feels awesome. We will see what happens after a couple of ...

Re: ALUMINUM Daiwa Steez vs Metanium MGL vs Conquest 100

The MGL has issues with water pooling in the tension knob part. I have had several bearings rust and the channel where the bearing knob is supposed to be is some cheap plastic/cast metal or something. It's corroded. My curado and conquest still work fine in the salt. I always use deionized water to...
