Re: Thin, Limp and Strong

Well I was reading and felt I might could help, I trade and try all kinds of line with tournament friends and take their leftovers that they strip off reels after season ends... For fluoro I love HiSeas Quattro camo 100% fluorocarbon (not the copoly/mono), go a size smaller though, it is thicker but...

Re: No Shimano, No Daiwa

This thread has kept me from feeling alone in the world. I really, really love my equipment and only make about $11 an hour till I finish school (2 more years of hell) so I really am proud of a $200-$300 reel. I just say this because I would be sick if I couldn't use my Daiwa's/Shimano. I would stil...

Re: Best reel for skipping.

I second the Sv105 being capable, god I wish Daiwa had more domestic small baitcasters... and weren't discontinuing my favorite at that. This aside, I would assume the SV103 would be fine, my SS/SV103 is brutal for control, I had my girlfriend learn on it with 3/8oz jig and very few lashes. Honestly...

Re: Dual Pinion Bearing Support

Check all abu's schematics. If you find a double bb pinion let me know Abu's, even the new revo's do not have any bearing on the pinion itself. The pinion has a little metal shaft that rides in the sideplate bearing and when the pinion engages the spool uses the spool bearing and spool shaft as its ...

Re: Chronarch MGL

Interesting, I can't imagine they are already having issues with a reel that new, I haven't seen the bearings listed as corrosion resistant on any sale sites though come to think of it. Reading another review off of Google, someone listed the Chronarch MGL as having an aluminum frame while every ans...

Abu's, even the new revo's do not have any bearing on the pinion itself. The pinion has a little metal shaft that rides in the sideplate bearing and when the pinion engages the spool uses the spool bearing and spool shaft as its support point. I wasn't sure, wish I could breakdown a reel to check i...

Re: No Shimano, No Daiwa

What abut Quantum? I never used one but KVD is using them for more than 20 years and won a "few" tournaments. Just making me wonder why they are not so popular on TT? From my personal and about 3 tournament fishing friends with more money than me's experience, they just don't hold up as well. I hav...

Re: Dual Pinion Bearing Support

Haibo and others chinese reels have double bb pinion support.l'd wish abu make a bc w this feature... I thought all Abu Revo reels with the Infini 2 spool had this??? I know they have one under the tension cap and am pretty sure there is another one on the pinion to keep it aligned. I know my girlf...

Re: No Shimano, No Daiwa

I have a BB1 Pro 7.1 with 40lb Super Slick and it isn't a bad reel. It just doesn't have that... well you would have to own and compare to tell. I also own a Revo Winch which is a bad machine (assuming you are using 1/2+oz lures) besides the thumb bar sticking every once in a while. I feel sick ever...

Re: Daiwa Steez SV vs. SS SV vs. Zillion SV TWS

I don't think they crap or anything just that they develop some noise and vibration over time but are very smooth out of the box. I guess it's only natural given that they are a magnesium framed reel with aluminum gears. They're just not going to be a smooth and quiet as a reel made from 8 ounces o...

Re: Daiwa Steez SV vs. SS SV vs. Zillion SV TWS

I also picked up an SS SV on sale. It's been spooled with 12 Invizex and casts a 1/8 Bitzy Bug Jig a respectable distance. I understand the noise issue. My SV103 is quieter. May be it's the frame material. I like the reel very much regardless. A Steez is on my wish list, new or pre owned. So after ...

Re: No Shimano, No Daiwa

I would probably take up bowling if I couldn't have Daiwa and Shimano reels. :crying: It would really, really be hard. All of my personal bests have been on Shimano/Daiwa. Stradic Ci4+ for LM Bass, on a 3.3" Keitech, SM Bass was Tatula R 8.1 with a 4" swimbait. Walleye was dropshotting on the SV105...

Re: No Shimano, No Daiwa

I have learned a ton from this thread, I wonder if I hit the lottery if they'd engineer reels for personal use...

Of course if I hit the lotto I would have all metanium/steez and the exsence (anything I could blow $ on), on all corresponding Loomis rods.

Re: No Shimano, No Daiwa

Can someone better explain the Doyo brand or manufacturer? I figure this is why Abu is quicker to send you a full replacement, they are just cheaper to make. Don't get me wrong, I love all my revo reels, just obvious differences.

No Shimano, No Daiwa

I understand all the back and forth between these 2 major fishing reel manufacturers, and being new to the site noticed a poll currently has 322 posts relating to the topic. Now the question I have, is if all those who voted Daiwa or Shimano had to use neither of them, who would your reel manufactur...
