Re: Steex XT rods

I'm thinking the Zillion rods maybe a better deal than the Steez XT rods since the Zillions have SIC guides and the XT doesn't. Both are SVF rods and the handles don't matter that much to me. I have the Tatula Elites rods and really like them and the sensitivity is as good as any other rod I have u...

Re: Steex XT rods

i've wondered about these rods, but you don't seem to hear much. at one time, i had the regular steez 7' mh and the compile-x 7'1, and loved the rods. i had to sell everything that had value a few years ago, and am just now back to fishing. folks seem to talk about the lack of sensitivity with the s...

Re: Hey Matt ...

Not sure on my M 6'10 rod but I love it. I use it for drop shotting with 1/4oz tungsten and 9 inch worm. stuck some really nice one with it. I go to rod when I'm drop shotting big worms have you ever used this rod for 3/16-1/4 shakey? i've got the omen 6'10 coming and planning on trying it for this...

seems the classic expo is really becoming the place new gear is introduced. it's the same thing in the music instrument industry. summer namm doesn't seem to produce a lot.

current daiwa reel seat closest to old tds?

of the new daiwa rods, which has the closest feeling seat to the old tds rods? i would really love for them to make those again with a more sensitive blank for the jig/worm models, and possibly balance the crank rods a little better.

what the reel seat on these rods? i apologize if it's further back in this thread. it looks similar to daiwa seats.

Re: ygk gsoul 112

I had bought some of this braid, but I think I will return it based on this input. I just put Sufix 832 (lime color) on my drop shot and shaky head set ups. 832 sinks better than other braids. My favorite finesse braid was Sufix Nanobraid. It is very thin, soft and strong. I had 10 lb in the ghost ...

Re: Is it the rod or the reel?

if we're talking bottom contact, i'm on the rod side. if it's cranks or spinnerbaits, i'm more prone to spend the money on the reel. i've had not so smooth reels perform without a problem fishing plastics or jigs, but i wouldn't be able to stand using them for moving baits.

Re: What is hands down the MOST...

it's interesting to read thru this thread. the most expensive rods i've owned were custom imx years ago, and the steez compile-x. i didn't have any problems with either i don't think, but i may have missed bites i never felt. using fc line is the key for me on feeling worm/jig bites. i tried braid, ...

Re: Action vs. Soft Tip vs. Taper

So then following all the great logic here, then a soft tip is better for cranks than a fast tip given the same action? You're still mixing it up. A rod can have a fast tip that is soft or stiff. "Fast" is used to describe the action/taper. You cant' tell if a rod has a soft tip or not ba...

Re: Braid for deep diving cranks

i've only tried cranking with braid once. it's was for shallow-mid cranks on an old daiwa tds crank rod, and it about rattled my teeth out! i would suggest finding the dullest rod you can find. it's a shame that braid doesn't sink like fc. other than weight, you'd never need a reason to buy a rod mo...

Re: Combat Stick

it's interesting to me that most folks that visit this site hate the acs seat. i've only had 1 rod (vedetta) years ago that had that seat, and i wasn't fond of it either. maybe someone should start a poll, and send a link to some of these company's customer service?? i think if some of the hard edge...
