Re: ZILLION Silver Wolf specs

Do you guys think Zillion HD + Ray’s spool can outperform Silverwolf? I ended up order Zillion HD instead of silver wolf. I already have Ray’s 34mm spool laying around. The HD seemed to be the right choice for me, cheaper and come with brass gear. I also have JDM Zillion SV with AMO spool. Meaning ...

Re: Budget Sweet Spot... Casting Reels

I Don't believe there is a sweet spot as that is dependant on brand. For instance with Daiwa I wont use anything less than a Zillion or Alphas ( must have the free floating spool) . Shimano I would happily use Curado or maybe even the STX. ABU I use the classic round reels Made in Sweden, have never...

Re: Gears for cv-z 103/Ringa/IZE Light/Monoblock etc?

by changing to alphas/pixy gear sets you can also then use 1000 series spools (1016,1012 in SV and mag z ) without the pinion slipping on the spool pin. opens up a great selection of spools to use in the millionaire based reels.

Re: What is your rod for tiny cranks ?

For me its the Major Craft Days 68L handles 5 to 10 grams easily and dose want I want. probably could cast lower weights but I don't use anything lighter. Finding the Days series of rods to be excellent value for money, great sensitivity for the price, and with stainless frame SIC fuji guide.

Re: Daiwa is saving us money

don't really know about saving money, I like the latest Zillions that much I keep buying them. Have 3 Zillion G 1000 reels and a Silverwolf, maybe a HD next. I do wish they did more with the Zillion 10 frame, its so much better with the alloy side plate and recessed mag dial than the original Zillio...

Re: Not much love for Abu around here, but here's my latest. 1600C IAR

I have been a Daiwa fan for a long time but my love of old ABU round reels has been rekindled recently with my father passing onto to me a 6500C that I bought for him 28 years ago. That reel is in mint condition and i Have since tuned it with dual bearing level wind worm, dual bearing idler cog, cer...

Re: ZILLION Silver Wolf specs

A larger diameter spool can positively affect both the rate of line coming off per rotation on a cast, and being wound in per crank. I'm in the same boat, I dig 34 mm mag-finesse spools for my type of river fishing and my preferred power techs. I believe also a wider spool makes a difference. less ...

Re: ZILLION Silver Wolf specs

I received my silverwolf last week. very nice reel. The spool is very fast and I wouldn't suggest use with mono or fluro line . I have 20lb sufix 832 on it and was using to cast 1/4 to 3/8 lures and definitely had to use higher brake settings than i would with other SV spools. typically i would use...

Re: Daiwa 22 Silver Wolf SV TW PE Special 1000, 2022

I’m just curious if anyone has one of these yet? It does appear to be “mag sealed”. It weighs 185 grams which is strange. I’m guessing it still has AL gears but also an AL drag star. The bearings count seems to match the standard Zillion. The extra 10 grams of weight must be in the drag star and “m...

Re: The year is 2004 and you have a TD-Z...

The USDM Z200 came with the same knobs as the Zillion Type R. The JDM Z2020 had the same knobs as the Pluton. I had a Z200 for a short stint and sold it to fund something else way back in the day...I totally forgot that it had the same knobs as the Zillion Type R. JDM Gen 1 Ryogas had the same knob...

Re: The year is 2004 and you have a TD-Z...

What parts do you put on it? Not looking to modernize a TD-Z but to build a period correct reel for a potential period rod. Looking to capture the early 2000s enthusiast vibe. I assume a straight carbon handle is in order but I hate the weird bulbous nub TDZ drag star. Is there a straight star opti...

Re: Daiwa centrifugal brakes

The only half decent centrifugal brakes that daiwa has used were the centriflex brakes on the coastal that was based on the TD Advantage body which were actually adjustable. That had a couple other reels with it but don't know why they discontinued it. The 2 pin brakes are very primitive.

I love the huge Gomexus TPE knobs. I've replaced all my handles with Gomexus now. It was costly, but cranking is sooooo much smoother and more powerful now.
TPE knobs are good. The cork knobs are even better. And now they have a even larger TPE 30mm knob to go with the 120mmm handles.
