Re: TackleTour Autopsy: A Brat to the Balsa Core, the new Rapala BX Squarebill

Balsa historically has been a really good material but as mentioned in the autopsy it does have limitations. Why it is still used in the core is for consistency. Like I duscussed in the autopsy the same properties of a complete balsa bait is what Rapala is trying to achieve, only with enhanced durab...

Re: Shimano’s Curado K Baitcaster : More than Black and White

I noticed that the review mentioned you all tested the K on the new Loomis IMX-Pro rods. I would love to see a review of them in the future. I have not found a lot of info about them out there yet, I love the looks of them but the price point is so close to the GLX now that I don't really know what...

Re: Shimano’s Curado K Baitcaster : More than Black and White

Great write up. Like you mentioned, I'm in the camp of thinking this may be the best Curado yet. We'll see how it stands up over time. Thanks Fishballer, Happy New Year to you and everyone. Fully agree, will be fishing the reel a lot more to see if it holds up over time but already noticing that it...

Hi Fishes, I asked the guys at G.Loomis today and it looks like the earliest the rods will be available is the early Sept timeframe.

Re: First Look Inside the New Shimano Curado K Series Baitcasters

On the first page of the preview you guys put the table of specs for the Stradic FK instead of the Curado K. Thanks Guys, had a number of issues, looked like I uploaded a previous version of the article. The Stradic matrix was half merged with the Curado K specs. All updated now and fixed a number ...

Re: Making a Power Play, the Shimano Tranx Baitcaster

No offense taken at all and always appreciate the feedback. Sealed systems are definitely more common on spinning reels, especially those employed in surf environments. For this particular article the focus really was on big bait applications and freshwater, something that I stated throughout the te...

Re: Making a Power Play, the Shimano Tranx Baitcaster

Hi ScoobyDoo, Thanks for your post and comments. In the review I spoke at length to the durability of the reel and also how it is able to be used in both freshwater and saltwater environments as well as use as a charter reel, which further speaks to the ability of the Tranx to holdup to the elements...

Lol!! and thanks for the note LR, rating fixed.

Re: Fishing Drones Have Arrived: The Ludicrous PowerRay, a Fishing Drone that Uses Sonar and 4K Video to Catch Fish

Bottom line. How much? I would use something like this to explore underwater structure vs catching fish. I asked them the same question at the show and they said that they had not yet determined the launch MSRPs. A good reference may be their flying drone, the "PowerEgg" which retails for over $1,2...

Re: Fishing Drones Have Arrived: The Ludicrous PowerRay, a Fishing Drone that Uses Sonar and 4K Video to Catch Fish

When I saw this at the show the first thing I thought was exactly what I repeated in the video "can you really call this fishing?" There is no doubt that drones are going to become more prevalent in the water too but it was interesting that PowerVision decided to target anglers specifically. Not sur...

Re: The Search for One: The 13 Fishing Archangel

Thanks USA-RET, it was definitely one of the more exciting rods I've had the opportunity to test over the last season. It's always nice when the performance stands up to the positioning. No doubt this is a very big investment for any angler, but I hope we will continue to see 13 Fishing keep pushing...

Re: Shimano Stradic FK – A Solid Design

Thanks for the comments, and some valid points guys, I referenced in the review that some of the Hagane concepts are things that we have seen in previous generation shimano reels and are just marketed as "Hagane" now. Also correct that the metal in the Hagane body is the arm side (the stem) which wh...
