Re: How G.Loomis Rods are Made - A Behind the Scenes Look

This was a very informative article and never really knew the work that goes into making rods. One thing I don't get is once the graphite is taken off the mandrel doesn't that mean the rod core is hollow? :? I'm sure I am missing something, if someone would be so kind to enlighten me. Hi Mike_Honch...

Re: Steez Spinning Rod: Zander, anyone?

I gotta agree. I've never liked flimsy rods. I've always liked my spinning rods pretty stiff, up to a softer tip. That's why I like the L&T series...its stiff, but still has enough tip for the finesse presentations...I was just looking to stick with daiwa for my new spinning rod, and the steez was ...

Re: Steez Spinning Rod: Zander, anyone?

Hi Teamdaiwa5. Yup I have it here and have been fishing it for a few months now. I'm going to pit it against some more spots and smallmouth and I should be ready to work on a review for Oct release. I can tell you so far that things are looking very good for this rod.

Re: Flap Slap Review

Cal is a better magician than Zander with the same wand. ;) Indeed. Especially when those are all JDM "wands" Hardly... Zander has all the big fish honors this year on our trips. Well, all except one ;) That said when the cold water rolls around again I'm going to give it one more shot.... ;)...

Re: Flap Slap Review

Is there any possibility that more reviews can combine a second opinion on the bait? Let the original reviewer post the facts, as well as their opinion, but just another take? I know it won't work with all products reviewed, and the opinions might even be the same, but I like all sides of the story...

Re: Flap Slap Review

Yup, in the right conditions this lure can catch some good fish. I personally think it works better in colder seasons (when comparing to other lures). Maybe Zander should give it another try once it cools down. I've fished it in cold, warm, and downright hot conditions. I don't hate the lure, but i...

Re: What happend to this years ICast coverage.

Hi Guys. Truth was we were understaffed this year. It really is a three person job and I had an emergency this year which forced me to miss ICAST for the first time, and JIP and Cal had to cover the show themselves. It was hard for me to follow up after the show, and we felt that the only area we we...

Re: Great job on the Gary Dobyns article...

Thanks dragon1, it was a great time out. The new rods do look and feel pretty good. I usually liek to fish teh lighter stuff, so I have to downgrade one power level when fishing the Dobyns stuff, but no doubt Gary has put together a very intriguing offering. Did you notice the new article feature, t...

Re: Shimano Cumara baitcasting rods...

Funny you should ask that... I actually fished that combo with my personal Calais 100A that I brought to El Salto. I only brought one reel with me, and that was it. The rod feels like a MH should and it handled the Calais nicely. It balanced out better with the Core, but teh Calais certainly felt go...
