Re: Snook, and others...

Great fish and fishing!!!

How would you rate snook vs. sea trout by pound per pound fish size? Are they better fighting?

Re: What size hooks on Megabass 110 Jr.?

Yes, they are #8 regular barb VMC, but if you compare them to Owner ST-36 #8, Owner #8 would be a little bigger.

Re: zoom trick worm, float or sink?

I use Trick Worm a lot, best worm IMHO. Always carry several bags in different colors. Yes, they are inconsistent. Some of them are tail up on a shaky head, some not, but all of them are sinking, never seen a Trick worm floating on surface.

Re: Shipping from Japan

Never paid any custom fees.
The seller maybe had experience with buyers from other countries. Some countries charge it on any purchase.

Re: Need help "switching hands" (righty to lefty)

I am right-handed, use only left-handed reels (spinning or baitcasting). I have much better feel (sensitivity) , control, and power to fight a fish with my right hand holding a rod. Doesn't make any sense to me to hold a rod in left hand and reel in by right hand. Seen several times, when co-anglers...

Re: Gear Ratios?

I use a 7.1 or 8.1 for everything. If I need to slow down, I reel in slower. The difference between 8.1 and 6.3 is around 20% in IPT. When I need to speed up (the lure is out of strike zone), it quicker to get a lure back with HG reel. Anyway, HG reel are more versatile. Same with the cars, I would ...

Re: Anatares & Metanium (USA)

Which Japanese store? Do search at rakuten.co.jp, amazon.co.jp there are many of them, some shops only ship to Japanese address, you have to use forwarding mail service, I have friends in Japan - use their address. The shops which ship directly to US sometimes out of stock on some of the hot reels.

Re: Anatares & Metanium (USA)

Look's like Shimano USA doesn't check currency exchange rates anymore.
You can find Antares in low 400'sUSD, 40500-41500 yen in Japanese stores, same thing for Metanium.
EMS Japan delivery is really fast, got my recent orders in 3 days on average.

Re: Boca OS7 on Core 50/51 - Feedback

Why only Boca's?! ZPI Studio or Hedgehog make better BB.
Same thing for ultra light oil, I would rather pay more and get nice bottle of ZPI or Hedgehod oil, instead of Boca oil.
I doubt Japanese anglers buy Boca bearings made in China, if they have option to buy made in Japan BB's.

Re: New abu morrum (usdm) on TW

Love round reels, but I'd rather have the JDM mag version. May try one during the black Friday sales for 20-25% off. Why wait? http://global.rakuten.com/en/search?pf=&pt=&f=0&fs=0&vm=2&sm=0&st=&tl=0&k=morrum :evil22: :evil22: Can't stand current pricing for Japanese products in US. Local distributo...

Re: T3 SV 8.1R-TW Initial Thoughts

DaveJ In the lake I mostly fish, it has predominately spotted bass population. LM are not really chunky here. Most of them look skinnish. Probably harder for them compete with spots. Maybe in spring time she was ~8lb. This is why I always have digital scales with me. So far upgraded the reel with ZP...

Re: T3 SV 8.1R-TW Initial Thoughts

Been using Daiwa T3 SV 8.1 for about two weeks. So far only positive experience. Exceptional caster, put around 60 yard mono with some backing ( didn't knot backing and mono), on long cast position, was able to cast all line out with Super Spook on it, had to ask a guy with the boat to get my bait b...

Re: Straight up long distance

I would vote for 2012 Shimano Antares. Find a video on youtube where the guy casts for 99 meters distance. This is the power of marketing. The reel question is: Can you cast 99 meters with the same reel in a fishing situation? Power of marketing, correct. I seen another Japanese video, the guys cou...
