Re: Powell Diesel

Are these any good? How would they compare to a F13 Omen in sensitivity, weight, and balance? Are the guides any good for braid? Are they a good deal at $55 dollars? I want a decent rod, not a $55 rod, looking more at something around $100 in quality. I was looking at the 7'6" MH extra fast for fli...

Re: Lew's Team Pro Speed Spool Casting Reel TLP1SH

I just checked Tackle Trap and couldn't find clutches for Lew's reels.
Did I miss it somewhere?

Re: Team Lews drag upgrade

Bassman, That was an interesting link. They had me with the model, but I did read down farther, enough to remind me of fun times long ago. To me, it looks like bait casting brakes and motorcycle clutches have similar problems, but in reverse. The bike motors got so powerful they couldn't fit a big e...

Core MG 50

Does the Core MG 50 cast light stuff as well as the older Chronarch MG 50 that it replaced?

Lew's Team Pro Speed Spool Casting Reel TLP1SH

Will the drag washers from the newest Pro Speed Spool reel, rated at 14lbs of drag, fit the TLP1SH?
The 10lb drag is the only thing I don't like about my two Lew's reels.

Re: Team Lews drag upgrade

For maximum drag force (assuming that the drag has reach equilibrium, or 'uniform wear'), the inner diameter of the drag washers should be about 0.577 times the outer diameter. http://i39.tinypic.com/2cf6sdy.jpg http://i14.tinypic.com/4dhav42.jpg Bassman, Does the overall diameter of the drag washe...

Re: Team Lews drag upgrade

I just bought two of the Lew's Pro TLP1SH reels, and am disappointed with the drags, too. These are the reels with the 80mm handles. I love the reels. They are light, smooth, and cast a mile, but the drag isn't enough for hooksets. Is there an upgrade available, or something I can do to increase the...

Re: Jika rig

They are easy to make, so you don't have to buy them. Depending on what you have, and the bottom you're fishing, you can make your own by putting two split rings together, a #3 and a #2. Put your hook onto the #3, and your sinker onto the #2. You can go bigger, like a #4 and a #3, too, for bigger ho...

Re: Jika rig

I do use light wire offset hooks with a Z bend, so the plastic stays on. I size the hook to the plastic.

Re: How does a BC drag system work?

Could it be that the drag washers need some kind of lubricant to form a protective barrier between them and the metal gear?
