Who make BPS rods?

I have an old (6+ years) Stacey King 7' med. light cranking rod from Bass Pro. It is my favorite Sammie and popper rod. I recently (last fall) went to BPS and found they were still avaiable, and were on sale, so I bought 2. The new rods are labeled the same, but they are almost an ounce lighter, and...

Re: spinning reel anti-reverse bearings lube?

Guys, As a Jewish carpenter, I want to give you both some words of advice. It's the Holiday Season. Play nice, at least for now. I appreciated everyone's answers, and attempts to help me. It is not a pissing contest, just a friendly forum where folks who share a love of all things fishing can reach ...

Re: spinning reel anti-reverse bearings lube?

Thanks. The oil didn't work, so I'll try the grease next.
Can I use the red Quantum grease that comes in the tube?

That's Cal's nice way of saying "delusional blogger and tackle whore Pete Robbins"
He probably figures it goes without saying.

Re: stradic 1000FL vs pflueger supreme 8225mg

You're right, it is FI. Operator error.
They both look like great reels.
I have been fish with Quantum 20 size spinning reels for years, but I had to stop using them because casting light stuff messed up my neck. I'm hoping these super light reels will make it easier to use spinning stuff again.

stradic 1000FL vs pflueger supreme 8225mg

I'm going to buy two spinning reels for my drop shot and split shot needs.
Cabela's has these two reels at great prices.
Anyone here have any opinions of these two reels as to which one is better, or more reliable?

Re: Good 3/16 oz jig rod needed

Take a look at the Falcon CCB-3-17 Shoal Cranker. I throw small jerkbaits like the Orbit 80, and the Yozuri 65, a lot, and this rod is perfect for them. As always, let down is the key to casting. I find that letting the bait hang no more than 4" down from the tip loads the rod perfectly for really l...

WTF review

Cal, I read your WTF review of the Steez Megatop casting rod, and I'd like to suggest you try another casting rod in your WTF reviews. Years ago I bought a Loomis GL3 7' casting rod that was rated 00 in power, and listed as a popper rod. Since I have a bad disk in my neck, I stay away from spinning ...

Re: spinning reel anti-reverse bearings lube?

I tried two drops of Hot Sauce, Quantum's oil, and the bearings slip.
I'm frustrated. I'm used to bearings jamming and siezing up, not being too loose.
