Daiwa Coastal

Any one have experience with this reel? Considering it for my annual tarpon/inshore trip. I am tired of using the guide's gear and I am not sure I want to bring my Z2020 into salt. I would probably run #30 braid on it.

Re: Daiwa Steez 103HL breakdown hot sauce replacement?

The Abu is a decent trade-off between grease (retains dirt too easily) and a light oil (not enough protection) for levelwind use.

Re: Daiwa Steez 103HL breakdown hot sauce replacement?

Hey have a JDM Daiwa Steez 103HL that I want to break down regrease and re oil. It’s been two years and has hot sauce on it. What’s the best grease and oil out there to replace the hot sauce with? I use the Daiwa red on my spool bearings. I use the following: Cal's drag grease for the drag, gears a...

Mine bombs a frog on a Valdivia with braid. No complaints here.

Tariffs. Yen exchange rate. Raw materials expenses. Capacity constraints. Lots of reasons for price increases.

HLCs are picky. Half ounce and over is the only safe way.

Re: Megabass levante

i've tried to find a 7' mh for plastics with no luck, then thought maybe another 7'1 h, but it seems like now those are getting harder to find since they're apparently discontinued. now i'm thinking maybe go with the perfect pitch in this line for jigs, and just use the steez for plastics. i am a h...

Re: Reel suggestions

Yeah - we are splitting hairs. The Alphas are lighter and a little better ergonomically. The Zillion TW SV will cast a bit better. Depends on what the OP wants to prioritize. I am a bit of a weight weenie when it comes to finesse reels. Will a Zillion TW SV outperform a Pixy for light baits tho? 8-)

Re: Reel suggestions

Just go with a Pixy variant and call it a day. Sounds like he wants the T Wing feature and an SV spool For the application, a zillion is bit too heavy. You want a reel around 6oz or less. A Steez is over budget. Why go for the TW or necessarily the SV spool? A Pixy or Alphas variant is perfect for ...
