Re: Evergreen Brett Hite Combat Sticks

I got to handle the 7'11" flippin stick earlier this afternoon and am actually very impressed with it. It feels light in hand and balances very well. The rod was finished perfectly as well. I'm very very tempted to buy one just to own it...hahaha

Re: Champion XP's vs Tatula Elites

It will handle a 6" senko, but the 5" senko won't load up like you'll want it to. I have a Champion Extreme 743C that i use for 5" senkos

Re: Champion XP's vs Tatula Elites

736 glass is a good choice, but I'd recommend you go with the 735C for your jigs/trigs. The 734C is a great all purpose rod, but I feel it's a tad slow for jigs.

Re: The Wife's Combo

My wife gets the Dobyns Champion Extreme 743C with a Chronarch 100D7 or the first generation Shimano Cumara 6'8" Medium XF with a Curado 50E. She can't cast a spinning reel that well, but she can cast a baitcaster just fine...interesting???

Re: $150+- frog rod

Dobyns 735 in your series of choice. Savvy would be in your price range. I use mine for frogs exclusively and it has never disappointed. I would second a Savvy, which I believe has been replaced by the Sierra...the Fury is another good choice to look at for $110 retail (wait for a 15-20% off sale a...

Haven't handled the spinning rods yet..
Only had them out on a couple trips but I'm happy with them so far.
Light, sensitive, build quality is spot on. Love the reel seats too.
Which one are you looking to acquire?
How is the balance on that 7' MH??

Re: Garlic-Scented Plastics -- Any Good?

Thanks. What are you masking? I think a majority are masking the scent of gasoline (from pumping), cigarette/cigar smoke, sun screen, etc. Also, some plastic lures have a very strong plastic smell that can be covered up with scent. Back when I first got into fishing I bought myself a tube of Megast...

Re: Extreme HP 743/744C vs Orochi XX EMTF

Don't have the HP or the XX, but I have the original DX744C and if you're fishing spinnerbaits and swimjigs, then you'll want the 744 over the 743.

Re: Looking for a budget Cranking Rod for deep diving cranks

I would recommend you check out the original Tatula for a cranking reel. I got one recently from auction for $75 brand new and it has sold me on the T-wing and low gear ratio.

As for rods, I'll throw out the Dobyns Fury 705CB.

Another vote for the Dobyns 705CB Glass, but also want to throw in the 764CB Randy McAbee

Re: Shimano Curado 200K is available for preorder now

matte black is ok , at lease it won't be a finger print magnet. Easier to scratch though yeah , that's true. on a side note. I find it hard to believe that they will leave the old tooling in place at the factory to keep cranking out the citica i series...maybe they will have a new citica come icast...
