Re: Daiwa Steez

I put a 2019 Tatula handle on mine, along with original smooth black Daiwa knobs.

Re: Daiwa Steez

Well I just got a great deal on a new Daiwa sv tw 1016sv-sh for 350 shipped! I have one as well. No mods needed as the handle is 90mm. You won't regret it. I swore the svtw stock handle is 80mm and 8.1 steez A is 90mm. I can’t be positive because I threw carbon on them before using mine. Anyways it...

Re: '19 Steez ct sv tw

I would love to own a CT SV but I fish a ball head jig in 1/4 ounce with a 4in easy shiner and I dont see the CT SV casting farther than my current Steez A and SV TW Don't knock it til you you've tried it. It's the finest casting, smoothest reel I've ever tried, and I have owned a Steez A and curre...

Re: Tat Elite vs Zillion SV

The Taula Elite is a much more comfortable reel. It is smaller in hand and sits lower in the reel seat than the Zillion SV TW, which is the same frame as the Tat CT. The Elite is virtually the same frame as the Steez A, which is very compact. I sold all my Zillion SV TW in favor of the 2019 Tatula ...

Re: EVA handles ... yea or nay ?

same. love eva looks & feel. Same here. I think cork looks nicer initially, but it goes downhill quickly, even if you're careful with it. After 1 season of use, a beautiful cork-handle rod isnt so beautiful anymore. EVA doesn't show wear or dirt nearly as much, which is why most of my rods are EVA.

Re: EVA Rod Handles

I took a full ladle while it was boiling and poured it slowly over the handle at the crease, into the kitchen sink. Did it 3 or 4 times. I tried to keep it laying flat across the sink, to avoid getting it on the reel seat and the butt, because high temps can soften epoxy.

Re: EVA Rod Handles

Dents can be lifted by pouring boiling water over it. This won't work for cuts or chunks missing. Im just talking compressed areas. For real? A guy I know in Japan told me about that one. It took a few tries, but it worked for one creased area on a swim bait rod I used to have. Not sure about hypal...

Wouldn't the proto revo be the 1st Revo that was a Cabelas or some other retailer exclusive?
You mean the red gen 1 Revo SC? It was basically a Revo S, only with mag braking. That was a solid reel, though I didn't like that the reel was finicky with stiff lines like P-line CXX.

Re: SLP Works Zaion Screwless

Same non-fitment on the OG Steez, as well. It's the same problem with the og pixy vs the px-r. The drive shaft is longer on the pxr, to accommodate the clicking mechanism and star. Btw, I alao tried it on an old TD-S, and it worked ok with the thinner aluminum Steez square nut, though the drag woul...

Re: SLP Works Zaion Screwless

No, the drive shaft is too short to allow the square nut and spring under the star. Have you tried this Tim? Yes, the thicker brass nut from the Tatula is a definite no-go. The thinner aluminum nut from a Steez SV TW allows the star to be installed, but there is virtually no drag adjustment and the...

Re: Line for BFS

10 lb (4 lb diameter) Sufix Performance braid mainline with 4 lb Sufix Advance mono leader. I'm definitely in the minority as I run braid mainline and some sort of leader on virtually every rig I run. I just like the behavior and handling characteristics of braid, the leader is the working end. I g...

The blue reel is a Daiwa Aird light game concept 100L.
And a heavily modified Aird it is.....
Yes, it is. Now I just need to find a lefty Aird red tune.
I sold a righty Red Tune recently. Still not sure how I feel about it.
