Re: Is it Daiwa, Shimano, or someone else?
I fish spinning reels primarily and have/had Okuma's, Daiwa's, Shimano's, Pflueger's and most recently the Ardent Forge. I reach for my Daiwa's and Pflueger Supreme MGX first and foremost but find myself using the Ardent for my light line fishing- 1000 series for trout and panfish is phenomenal. Dra...

Re: Time to settle it once and for all.
I fish Owner Rip'N Minnow's for Smallmouth early in the season. With stock Owner hooks on them, I've had 3 lb smallmouth bend the rear treble. Never had one straighten out, but I have had them bend hooks.

Re: prop baits
I have a handful of different props and the only one's I've ever caught fish with are Heddon Baby Torpedo for smallies, Smithwich Devil for pickerel and Savage Gear Prop Prey in black for nighttime bass fishing. I have skitter props, Kelly J's, Mirrolure and a buzzjet jr, nothing on those.

Re: What's your thoughts on bed fishing?
I personally don't do it. In NJ, they close bodies of water during trout stocking, why not close bass fishing for a couple of weeks during the spawn?

Re: mono?
Sufix line isn't junk and it won't degrade on you. I use 8lb test on my spinning gear for jerk and finesse topwater fishing and it's a dream to handle.

I like circle hooks when I wacky rig. Owner inline circle is the one I use in 1/0.

Re: unweighted beast hooks
I like the unweighted with soft jerkbaits. I use them on the KVD caffeine shad to ensure I can get a good hookset on long casts. Also, the heavier weight of the hook gives it a slightly faster fall on the pause. If you use the Havoc Sickfish, the unweighted beast hook is one of the few that works we...

Re: small jerkbaits
I also love the Owner jerks in small sizes. I recently started using the Baker lures, JLD1 series, which is 2 1/2" and 1/4 oz. Top notch! Great finishes, pretty good stock hooks and real nice action in the water. I throw them in 40-60 degree water as well as in warmer water for trout on large freshw...

Re: Original Rapala Floater
I use F-5 and F-7's on the Delaware and other rivers when water is low and clear to target smallies. Can't be beat. I use the silver/chartreuse color you referenced along with the white/chartreuse. My favorite color is the Vampire color, discontinued, but can be found if you look around.
