Re: Looking for "one" crank bait rod
Has anyone tried one of the Phenix Composite Crankbait rods? I'm itching to try one and I've found good reviews and feedback on them around the WWW (including the TT Review) but they don't seem to be very popular on this board.

Re: How do you use your Calcutta 50
low gear ratio / IPT = big spinnerbaits and crankbaits.

Re: How are these
During the last 15 years, I have caught more bass on a Texas-rigged 7" Red Shad Power Worm than any other bait. Obviously, that is my "confidence" bait. I never leave home without em. The 10" version is also killer.

Loomis spinnerbait rods
I am curious what it is about these rods that make them uniquely suited for spinnerbaits vs. the other Loomis rods, like the MBR and BCR series. I've had my eye on an MBR783C in IMX (6-6). Other than the "special" lengths available in the SBR series, why would any of these rods be superior for spinn...

Re: Calcutta 50
I use my CT-50B with 20lb Power Pro braided line for medium/heavy crankbaits and spinnerbaits. I bought it for the 5.0-1 retrieve to the work the larger baits--plus I have a tendency to crank too fast and this helps me slow down. I like this reel, but it's not the best for light lures. The JDM versi...

Re: Metanium Mg7 and light lures
Thanks for the input. I've got TG Rocket bearings in both reels. I bought the MG7 for buzzbaits. I'm still contemplating an alternative use. Right now I have it on a Falcon 5-1610 which may be a bit heavy for buzzbaits. However, I'm using it for weightless superflukes as an alternative. BTW, what le...

Metanium Mg7 and light lures
I like my new Metanium Mg7 but it doesn't seem to cast light lures (e.g., 1/8, 3/16 crankbaits) as well as my Chronarch MG50. I haven't done any "controlled" comparisons. Anyone have similar observations?

Re: A typical newb's first quetion
P.S., If it's spinning tackle your interested in, I can't be much help with specifics. However, my comments on rod action and line should still be valid.
Again, good luck.

Re: A typical newb's first quetion
The responses you get on this will be interesting since this is a "high-end" tackle website. In my opinion, (besides your budget) your biggest challenge is finding one "all-purpose" rod. I have at least a dozen rigs, but when I go pond fishing I take at least two--one for cranks and topwater, and on...
