Re: Best grease and oil for servicing reels. 2019 edition.
More important than what to use, is to know where to use it and how much to use. Many on this site get to caught up in using some high fallutin' super duper special oil. Absolutely true. I believe that less is more when it comes to reel lubrication. A light coating of grease and a single drop of oi...

Re: Higher End Affordability, Pflueger's Patriarch XT Spinning Reel
The Patriarch is not a bad reel, it's average just like the review concludes. When compared to top performers like the Stradic CI4+ or the Daiwa balistic I think it's a no brainier. I would choose the daiwa or shimano, save a few bucks and get a better reel.

Re: Unpopular Tackle that Works
Those old Roland Martin helicopter lures. They were panned by most anglers but I have had good luck with them. The line twist would be my only gripe.

Re: Shimano Calcutta 200b vs 200gtb???
I have owned both reels and to be honest in the real world there’s not a huge difference. The whiffle spool will cast a little bit further but that's it. The drilled out frame does cut a small amount of weight be it's mostly for looks.

Re: Quantum reels
Like a lot of anglers on here I’ve had my bad experiences with quantum reels. I saw them on tv and thought, if I buy those I’ll be a better fisherman like the pros. Nothing could be further from the truth. Every single quantum casting reel I bought had a major problem with in two years. They simply ...

Re: Reel spinning backwards
What kind of reel? I have seen this happen if there is too much grease on the roller bearing. I also have some older Daiwa spinning reels that do this when the temp gets below 30.

Re: Bantam mgl usa vs. Japan
Oh man can't wait to punch and flip with the bantam I'm reading for summer small mouth fishing with the supposed shallow spool. Don't really need another reel, but I've already got a rod picked for this one. HAHAHA I dont think many of us on here NEED another reel (* bait monkey whispers " but you ...

Re: Ryoga vs. Conquest
There are a lot of people including myself who think the Micro Module or Power Mesh gears are more marketing hype than anything else. I have felt reels that are just as smooth as the conquest with bigger gear teeth. I'm sure the new Ryoga is a great reel, the old one is built like a tank. From past ...

Re: Shimano Bantam MGL???
I would say yes but it’s not really a big deal, even the shimano conquest has a plastic idle gear. It's not under any real stress so it will take forever to wear out.Mike son wrote:The idle gears are still plastic...

I am more excited to see the review on this than any other reel, looks like a game changer.

The ganders still open in eastern Ohio and western pa have some great deals on lures, 40% off everything in the store.
