New finesse reel

Not sure if it has been posted elsewhere on the forum. Japan Tackle has the new Alphas Air TW up for pre order. Seems to share spool type with the Steez. Would assume a couple of tweaks on the Steez tho.

Thanks Cal. Been waiting for this since the pictures appeared in earlier tests. Lovely sounding reel.

Re: Show off your OG Zillion

On the JDM site, first number in the display reel looks like an 8. Given the price they sold for in Oz when first released, I dont think it was really a limited release. Serial number may mean a few things, such as batch number, country of distribution etc. When first released in Australia, they wer...

Manufacturers and retailers probably just want to move older stock.

My counting could be wrong, but I think there is a rod without a partner. Next purchase?

Re: Uses for Copoly?

I use both mono and braid for squarebills and lipless cranks. It depends on the situation-braid around wood cover, mono around rocks. If the drag is set correctly, braid works better for lipless baits imo, especially out in deeper water. Braid also helps when ripping a bait free from grass to draw ...

Re: Budget Sweet Spot... Casting Reels

I like how poor people who can't afford high end gear always say ;"your 600$ rod won't catch you more fish than my 40$ ugly stick uhuhuhuhuh". But it does catch more fish.I can feel so many more bites that I couldnt detect when I was poor and fishing with cheap rods. You get what you pay for.A 600$ ...

Re: Snaps

Thanks for the info and recommendations. I understand the purpose of split rings allowing for more freedom, but wasn't sure if the shape, size, and added weight of a snap would hinder an already lightweight lure. For general bass fishing I was always somewhat discouraged from using snaps because of...

Re: Lower gear ratio for SS Air

Thanks again! going to let them know and see if they can get them ordered for me! Since I'm asking you so many questions do you have an opinion on the drag clicker mod? I like the drag clicker feature that comes stock on the Steez CT. It seems beneficial on a finesse reel with light line and low dr...

Re: A classic rod and a new reel

Lovely looking combo. Always liked the offset reel seat with a round reel. If Daiwa could do a 50 size I would be all over it. Maybe try the new Millionaire CT SV. Shoild just about disappear in your hand but still offer a very firm hold.

Re: —Daiwa Catalina TW 4.9:1–

Was talking with a buddy regarding the Catalina's line capacity. Decided to do the math but it doesn't add up in my opinion. Seem to not hold a lot of 20lb sniper. Tackle trap claims 140yds of 50lb braid. I used the info of basic PowerPro, 50lb has a diameter of 0.36mm. Pretty close to that of 20lb...
